MARKETING AUTOMATION P 16

EDITOR’S LETTER You believe it or not in next 2 decades, the world will be changed drastically. The Sci Fi movies are going to be the reality. Next 2 decades are going to be very important for the human existence. Now the time has arrived that we should put on our thinking hat. Enterprise IT World, looking at the future, is trying to bring together the decision makers of the IT industry under one roof and discuss possibilities of the IT industry. The long pending CIO500 is going to be reality in next 3 months. It is happening in Hotel Novotel Pullman on 13-15 December. Our plan is to bring 500 CIOs / IT decision makers under one roof so that they can take to each other and learn from each other’s experiences. We will also have senior CIOs and leaders from other regions so that experience and good practices get shared with the Indian CIOs.
WILL INFRASTRUCTURE DISAPPEAR?
Dear Friends.
It is in a few years that the IT infrastructure is going to vanish from the earth. Believe me. You may not see wires hanging from the walls or switching and routing devices popping out of the niche. The server room will not be seen inside your premises. Even I would say your workspace will remain the same. You can sit in any couch – be it in the hospital, airport lounge, park, bus, metro, ferry, tubes, flights.
After Wi Fi - 6 and 5G evolution and the evolution of modern-day workplaces, the offices would not be like the one we are seeing today. Today, the Gen –Z are on a different mode. The companies are giving flexibility to the employees to work from anywhere. The challenges of security breach or attack or even DLP kind of things are going to be managed and handled by AI ML. Every device would have inbuilt AI ML. Every smart component - be it CC TV camera or access machine, printer, lights would have monitoring mechanism with automation inbuilt, which will send report to the central command and control center and based on the behavior of person, machine, bot, vehicle the edge device would take definite decision.

SECURITY FLAW LEAVES ANDROID SMARTPHONES VULNERABLE TO ADVANCED SMS PHISHING ATTACKS: CHECK POINT Check Point Research has revealed a security flaw in Samsung, Huawei, LG, Sony and other Android-based phones that leave users vulnerable to advanced phishing attacks. The affected Android phones use overthe-air (OTA) provisioning, through which cellular network operators can deploy network-specific settings to a new phone joining their network. However, Check Point Research found that the industry standard for OTA provisioning, the Open Mobile Alliance Client Provisioning (OMA CP), includes limited authentication methods. Remote agents can exploit this to pose as network operators and send deceptive OMA CP messages to users. The message tricks users into accepting malicious settings that, for example, route their Internet traffic through a proxy server owned by the hacker. “Given the popularity of Android devices, this is a critical vulnerability that must be addressed. Without a stronger form of authentication, it is easy for a malicious agent to launch a phishing attack through over-the-air provisioning. When the user receives an OMA CP message, they have no way to discern whether it is from a trusted source. By clicking ‘accept’, they could very well be letting an attacker into their phone,” said Slava Makkaveev, Security Researcher, Check Point Software Technologies.

ccording to a research report titled, “Marketing Automation Market” by MarketsandMarkets, the Global Marketing Automation market size is expected to grow from USD 3.3 billion in 2019 to USD 6.4 billion by 2024. What’s driving the growth of this market is the pervasion of new age technologies like AI, Big Data and Analytics into each and every segment of an organization. With the evolution of these technologies, new use cases are coming up every day. Each department within any given organization, provided it prioritizes Digital Transformation, is leveraging these and customizing them to achieve their agenda – to ultimately expand their market reach and share. The Marketers, with the First Mover’s Advantage mantra embedded on their minds, are no farther in the technologically driven race than their counterparts from other departments.
WHAT’S NEW IN THE MARKETING LANDSCAPE? “The marketing landscape has shifted from being random to insight led as well as mass market to hyper personalised,” says
Anoop Karumathil Melethil, Head Marketing, Maveric Systems. In today’s multiplayer market, the competition is no longer about how excellent or how unique your product or a solution is. With high-end technologies out in the public domain for everybody to deploy, what gives your organization an edge, is not the fact that you are using it, but how well you are using it. The uniqueness that your organization brings to the market, lies less in the product or the solution itself, than in the process of how the product/solution reaches its intended customer. The message that you are sending across to your customer will not hit home, if it isn’t specifically tailored for that particular customer. With Big Data providing all the information you could possibly want, Analytics allowing you to process that data, and AI helping you to predict the responses of the customers, if you still fail to leverage all this to make an impact when you are reaching out to the customers, it is likely that they will slip away to other marketers who have, in fact, automated their marketing processes.
WHY AUTOMATE? The question that needs to be addressed here is that why is there

suddenly a shift in favour of Automation within the Marketing processes that have traditionally had a very high degree of personalization. The answer lies in the question itself. With technology becoming a commonplace, customer consumption patterns and buying behaviour are changing massively. There is an explosion of data that was previously limited to a selected sample space that offered minimal information for the marketers to work with. The widespread adoption of Technology, at not just the businesses’ end, but also at the customers’ end, have made it crucial for the marketers to dissect the data and use it to make informed decisions about the customers. It is almost like a role reversal where the customer is not the only one with the access to information about the organization or a product/solution they are looking for. But the ball is now in the court of the marketers who have access to data that can help them target the perfect fit of customers for their organization. And the way to do this is through Automation.
