Row Houses
Row Houses PROJECT DESCRIPTION • The row homes residential fabric is the key building typology that interconnects the site to the surrounding neighborhood, while also braiding together the mix of uses of the site • The design of row homes has been developed as a building, not individual unit facades creating a sense of cohesion to the overall project • Simplistic massing and detailing provides a subordinate background to the historic resources • Building designs reflect symmetry and rhythm patterns sympathetic to the historic resources • Smaller scale row home typology offer smaller block patterns that ensure the interconnection of the park to the northern portions of the site at a human scale • The row homes of McMillan offer benefits to the site that only home ownership can provide, such as a sense of permanence and stability, the activation of the streets and public spaces, and a “Live, work and play” community within literally a few minute walk • Massing of the row homes in a three-story street wall provides a transition from the surrounding community to the larger building on the site • Row homes blend with the other new McMillan buildings in its design and material reference of McMillan’s historic resources
