What is Docker

What is Docker Docker is a platform for managing Linux containers. In brief, Docker is a containerization mechanism. It is a new open source container technology that makes it easier to get many applications running on the same kind of servers. Additionally, it makes packaging and shipping programs very easy. Docker was started in March 2013. It begin as an open source execution of the deployment engine which powers dotCloud. Docker has become a huge industry phenomenon. During recent months, many industrial giants such as Dell, HP, Google, IBM, Microsoft, Amazon and RedHat have asked to participate forces with Docker. This is a great achievement of the Docker's founder, Solomon Hykes. I was surprised to get to know he started taking care of Docker in his mother's Paris basement as a small side thing he thought only a small number of others would ever care about. But are you aware that Docker is now typically the most popular container standard by today.

Docker has introduced a fresh revolution for packaging and deploying applications on Linux servers. I enjoy open source software, as it allows anyone to see and modify the code, which may then be returned to the first application. There's undoubtedly that contributing to an open source software provides a sense of satisfaction which in turns provides a service for everybody who uses it. With open source software such as Docker, you receive the applying code which you can use if you want. Otherwise you can just download the applying and run it.
