SPRING INTO ACTION

The Spring semester has been a time of reorganization for the Epsilon Mu Chapter of Kappa Psi. The Alpha Class Brothers, who established the Chapter November 12, 2010, have gone on their APPE Rotation and left our budding new Chapter in the adept hands of the Beta and Gamma Classes. The Alpha Class has not gone far though; they are active participants in the Chapter Meetings and regularly attend social and community service events. 5

In January, Province IV Winter Conclave was held in Gainesville, Florida. The first night was a Meet & Greet social. Joel Rivera describes the experience: “You are instantly tight with people you don’t really know because you share the same bond of brotherhood.” The next day began with an inspirational speech from Dr. Marvin Smith about leadership development followed by workshops and an Awards Ceremony. The weekend ended with Brothers in their jerseys enjoying brunch and relaxing after a whirlwind of events.

K A P PA P S I SKI TRIP

A BOND OF BROTHERHOOD

Also in January, a group of Brothers went on a Kappa Psi Ski Trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. This trip bonded Brothers together from all across the country. Jay Hazelcorn spent most of his time hitting the slopes practicing his snowboarding, but he found time to “network with Brothers from other schools. Other social activities included paintball and many impromptu trips to Downtown Orlando. 9

THE FOUR PILLARS FELLOWSHIP INDUSTRY SOBRIETY HIGH IDEALS

Kappa Psi Brothers strive to embody the Four Pillars: Fellowship, Industry, Sobriety, and High Ideals. This semester, the Gamma Class has exemplified the Pillar of Fellowship as they have made the transition from pledge to Brother. Along with other Brothers from the Chapter, including Karl Healy, the Immediate Past Regent, they helped pledge and initiate the Alpha Class at the St. Petersburg Campus.

At every opportunity, whether it has been at Conclave, a ski trip, a picnic, or a Walmart sponsored event on campus, the Brothers of Epsilon Mu have reached out and bonded with other fraternities, Brothers, and Graduate Brothers.
