Size matters Of all clothes currently bought online, up to 60 per cent are estimated to be returned to the retailer. A new web-based system that takes detailed measurements of the body via a personal webcam could revolutionise online clothes shopping. The new software will help eliminate the hassle of returning clothes of the wrong size or fit – and potentially save retailers and shoppers millions of pounds a year in postage and associated costs. The technology is being developed by computer vision experts at the University of Surrey, led by Professor Adrian Hilton, and London College of Fashion.
