User Guide

Click here to download a general guide for using the Sleip App ad part of the Saudi Cup veterinary requirements.

How To Access

An email will be sent by Sleip on behalf of the Saudi Jockey Club to the nominated person in your team to download and access the mobile application to record and submit all trot-ups to the Saudi Cup veterinary team.

Please also consult the Sleip App “Get Started “webpage – https://sleip.com/getstarted which provides additional information on how to use the App.

Veterinary Examinations

Saudi Cup approved veterinarians will be using the Sleip App at each of the scheduled examinations prior to your horse’s shipment to Riyadh. Your horse’s action will also be monitored using the Sleip App by an JCSA veterinarian post arrival in quarantine in Riyadh.

The data will also continue to be compared to the previous video results and therefore it is in your best interests to ensure the pre export recordings accurately reflect your horse’s action over time and it is recommended that the recordings are taken clear of medications or other procedures, that may potentially alter a horse’s action.

PRE-TRAVEL VETERINARY ASSESSMENT – SLEIP APP RECORDING Overview

The following information provides a general guide for using the Sleip App as part of the Saudi Cup 2025 veterinary requirements.

The Sleip App will be used to record and collect veterinary video recordings of your horse(s) – such as trot-ups – for the Saudi Jockey Club Veterinary team to consider as part of its overall assessment of your horse's suitability to travel to Riyadh.

About Sleip

The Sleip App is an equine diagnostic mobile application that uses markerless technology to identify asymmetry of a horse's gait. This allows veterinarians to track a horse's gait over time

Using the Sleip App

Use of the Sleip app is simple and only requires:

• An iPhone 8 or later to make a video recording of your horse(s).

• Two continuous and consecutive trot ups in a straight line over 30 metres on a firm, even surface.

• Trot the horse with a loose lead and avoid obscuring the horse from the camera’s view.

• Hold the phone in landscape mode, at the operators’ eye level, and as still as possible.

• Avoid having any other horses moving in the video frame. The system has been scientifically validated and does not require any special equipment, markers to be placed on your horse, or expertise to use.

Accessing the Sleip App

The following steps must be followed to access and start recording on the Sleip App:

1. An email will be sent by Sleip to your nominated email for you to download and access the App (this will also include a pre-determined password for your account).
