Job Opening Development Officer Equidad de Género, Ciudadanía, Trabajo y Familia is a Mexican feminist organization with over 20 years of experience as a pioneer in promoting gender equality and the Rule of Law. The organization has recently undergone a strategic planning process that has laid the groundwork for a bold path forward to guarantee women’s rights and autonomy, mainstream a gender perspective and strengthen citizenship at the global, regional, national, state and municipal levels, all within the sustainable development framework.

JOB OVERVIEW The Institutional Development Area has the purpose of strengthening the organization’s sustainability and growing the funds available for implementing its various program areas. The Development Officer will work in collaboration with the Corporate Relations Officer, in collaboration with the organization’s program directors and under the (direct or indirect) supervision of the Executive Director. A considerable portion of the Development Officer’s time will be spent on researching and communicating with international funders and collaboratively developing proposals and reports as well as monitoring and evaluating project implementation. The position may also include direct project coordination at some point and maintaining relationships with international agencies and organizations. Initial hiring as a home office with the possibility of a permanent position based in Mexico City.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Fundraising -

Work with program directors to identify and research funding opportunities with private donors and international aid agencies

Work with program directors and other staff to develop letters of inquiry, concept notes and full proposals on topics including sexual and reproductive rights, genderbased violence, sustainable development and feminist economics

-

Support the Executive Director and program directors in official communications with donors.

Coordinate the development of an annual and long-term fundraising plan, as well as the operational and strategic plan of the organization.

Support crowdfunding campaigns and other fundraising initiatives. 1


Project Coordination -

Assist program directors in coordinating and monitoring project implementation.

Gather information on project results and produce reports on existing grants

-

Carry out tasks associated with the Executive Coordination of the Building a ProChoice Alliance in Mexico project and share information with program staff

-

Develop monitoring and evaluation framework and mechanisms for projects and overall organization

Additional functions -

Produce organizational informational bulletins for funders and allied organizations

-

Continuous updating of the institutional curriculum

-

Produce Equidad’s annual report.

Prepare or review documents and presentations in English for Equidad’s Director and other staff members, including applications for international conferences and meetings

-

Manage organizational correspondence in English

-

Spanish to English or English to Spanish translation

-

Carry out other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE -

Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or related field

-

Between three and five years professional experience with non-governmental organizations

-

Experience in project development and coordination

-

Experience in monitoring, evaluation and learning

-

Excellent use of digital tools and platforms such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Zoom, Asana, as well as data analysis packages such as SPSS and Excel.

SKILLS/QUALITIES/KNOWLEDGE -

In-depth knowledge of women’s rights and sexual and reproductive right issues, including gender-based violence, 2030 Agenda and/or feminist economy

Native English-speaker, advanced Spanish

-

Experience living and/or working in Mexico and/or general knowledge of the political and social context in Mexico

-

Excellent writing and editing skills

-

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills

-

Excellent organizational skills and the capacity to prioritize competing tasks under pressure and against deadlines

-

Strict attention to detail

-

Cultural sensitivity and excellent interpersonal skills

Ability to work in a diverse and collaborative environment

START DATE AND WORKING CONDITIONS The ideal start date for this position is November 2022. The Program Officer is a 40 hour a week position. Benefits will be provided above and beyond those dictated by law.
