2015 Equip Education Yearbook

Page 1

Teachers Each day challenges and enlivens the instructors of Equip Education. We find that our students arrive ready to engage the subject material in a meaningful way. This both encourages us and keeps us on our toes! We desire that our students know we care about more than just their academic progress. We hope they learn to honor God.

Hello ladies!

We know what we're doing. We're dragging out lunch so we don't have to go to class. Stay calm and keep distracting the teachers.

We very much enjoyed our year together. As one of us (who shall remain nameless) said, "The classes are getting harder but we're not any smarter. Oh well."

As you might guess from looking at these pages, we

were blessed with

widelY different personalities who kept the year interesting!

Providence Road A day in the life of a seventh grader at PRC with Equip Education can be full of amusement. Our teachers never forget to bring fun into our classroom. Tuesdays consists of handstands, funny talks during class, and as we like to say, 'going to our death,'as we begin our school day. We even did a flash mob during Latin class. Before we began reviewing our vocabulary, Mr. Curtis said (as he always does) "ln Choro Recitemus." At this point we all stood up and shamelessly danced. The look on his face was priceless. Even though life as a seventh grader can get out of control it never lacks fun. - Miss Abella This has been a very fun year for my class at Equip. When we started in August we didn't quite know what to expect, but we eventually adjusted to waking up early, making sure we turned all of our assignments, and calling each other by Mr. or Miss. Although doing all that homework could sometimes seem overwhelming, with field trips, uniformfree days like jersey day, and just joking around with classmates, we were always having fun. Looking back, seventh grade has been a balance of work and fun, and we are all excited for summer - and eighth grade! - Miss Erwich

Rhetoric

The Rhetoric I class at Providence Road Church was small in number but certainly not in personality. Each week brought laughs and jokes right alongside the learning. lt was a blessing to be in such an intimate environment as we adjusted to the Equip way of doing things!

The R2 class at Pines Baptist, while a relatively quiet bunch, brims with interesting people. The class clearly respected and valued each other. Watching them interact was a blessing and many different personality types melded together into a pleasing whole. We are thankful the Lord blessed us with such a wonderfu! group of young people.

Dialectic I We are the 7th graders. We all met this year. Equip Education is what brought us all here. Though glad to be together there are moments we detest Like certain math problems and big Latin tests! But mostly we laugh and we giggle in our hood Cause our time together is really very good. Lunch time and kickball and time after lunch ls what makes us a big happy bunch. Board time is fun when we add to our art It makes diagramming not so hard on the heart. We love creating our own stories with the mark of a pen Like Ninja Gecko, Yee and Evolved dolphin. Some like the uniforms, some not so much But drama in Lit class brings just the right touch. We are the 7th graders and this was our year To embrace all these moments while we were all here. After math aftermath.

The Rhetoric I class at Calvary Sawgrass was full of learning and Iaughs. We organized many gettogethers outside of Equip throughout the year that helped us draw closer as a group. We are thankful for ayear of friendship and faith and learning and growth.

ome call physics the fundamental science, because it governs all the other scientific fields. Some physicists even believe that one day they will come up with a singular formula that will explain everything. With such lofty ideas, approaching physics might seem like a daunting task, perhaps even a bit frightening. But that is what we love about what we are doing at Equip. Studying physics and all its mind blowing aspects helps us rcalizejust how big the God we serve is and how marvelous this world He has created is. Here is snapshot of some of the topics we covered during the year.

ENGINEERING DESIGN

DONENOW!

Here, teams are staging up for the alliance selection process. At each tournament, the teams which fare the best in the morning earn the right to choose their partners in the afternoon.

I anTfrgurc Programming, brainstorming, engineering design, prototyping, teamwork, hard work. Robotics teams exist to attack these challenges. Great teams, like ours, contain students willing to help each other in any area of need. They are also top{light competitors in that they stand ready to assist other teams during competition with whatever need may present itself. Team Cipher rocks!

Competition days are extremely stressful. ln order to check in at a tournament, robots must comply with a lengthy checklist of requirements at the registration station. urnament A Solid Performance "Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more..." These immortalwords flowing from the pen of William Shakespeare remind us one and all of the preparation and nerve required of Equip Education students to throw themselves into the uncertainties of the annual speech tournament. Will I be dashed against the rocks of faulty memory or stage lright or unfriendly judges? ls the effort and stress worth it? Needless to say, attendees, if not competitors, universally attest that this year's contest attained greater heights than ever before. More students presented better-written speeches with

outstanding levels of memorization. Truly, as the sun powers the earth, these students charged their pedormances with truth that changes, the humor that entertains, and the emotion that binds the heart. Holding off fierce competition, Caleb lszler rose to victory with his speech on whether or not a Christian is able to employ a swear word without dishonoring God. We won't attempt to summarize his argument here; rather we highly recommend you view the speech lor yourself on the Equip Education Facebook page. Towns McClain and Victoria Abella secured 2nd and 3rd places respectively with their speeches on human traflicking and S.Truett Cathy. We congratulate all of our students on their fine performances!!!

Our finalists for this yea/s lournament were, from left to right, Caleb lszler, Jackson lszler, Sarah Morris, Towns McClain, McKenzie lszler, Victoria Abella and Noah Sedano. Their speeches made manifesl the fact that young people possess within them the capacity to change the world.

Jersey Day So every year, we scour the calendar for opportunities to ditch our Equip uniforms and show otf some of our favorite gear. One of these days is Jersey -/ -/
