What are taxes? the most important public income it is also a compulsory payment made to the
Government for services it provides us, though people may not be completely satisfied or convinced with these services modern states apply more and more taxes tax systems are different from country to country
History of taxes... taxes were paid only by slaves and foreigners in the old Greece
in Rome all citizens paid taxes in the form of capital that was abandoned in the time of the rising empire and the
great fortune gained by war conquests in the 1st c. Cr. taxes on land and inheritance were introduced and then other forms of taxation such as taxes on grain and salt in the Middle Ages in Europe there were different taxes (land taxes, inheritance taxes, various fees...) paid to kings, nobility, and most of all to the Church
ď ’ at the end of the 19th century and at the beginning of
the twentieth century increased attention was paid to fairness in taxation and income taxes appeared ď ’ they were initially proportional, and then, in most
countries at the beginning of the 20th century, they introduced progressive income taxation

TAXES ON GAMBLING AND LOTTERY
Income taxes... The average paycheck is 6.500 HRK
√ 24% if you make less than 360.000,00 HRK a year ( less
than 48.521,81 EUR ) √ 36% if you make above 360.000,00 kn a year ( above
48.521,81 EUR ) CITY OR MUNICIPAL TAX – it depends in which city you
live ( For example: the taxes on income tax are the biggest in Zagreb (18%), in Samobor there are no taxes on income taxes )

Taxes on inheritances and gifts... The inheritance of the
spouse and descendants are exempt The inheritance of other
heirs is subject to inheritance tax at a flat rate of 5%
Movable property received
as gifts is subject to gift tax at a flat rate of 4% if its total value oversteps the threshold amount
Taxes on road motor vehicles.. ď ’ The car is taxed according to the power of the
engine and the age of the car ď ’ TAXPAYER - legal person that is the owner of a registered car or motorcycle
- modern form of taxation - the tax that is charged to everyone, including businesses on most transactions - the purpose of PDV is to tax consumption - the most common rate of tax is 25% ,however, there are two other taxes as well:
5% - cinema tickets, science magazines, medical equipment‌
13% - books, concert tickets, coffin, food for farm animals, eggs, diapers, meat, fruits and vegetables ‌
25% - everything else.. for example: Hotels, boarding houses, catering services and others providing accommodation...

TAXES ON GAMBLING AND LOTTERY 750 HRK (100 EUR) – 10 000 HRK (1 350 EUR) = 10% 10 000 HRK (1 350 EUR)- 30 000 HRK (4 050 EUR)=15% 30 000 HRK (4 050 EUR)- 500 000 HRK (67 570 EUR)= 20% 500 000 and above =30%
