Powell Rods was founded in 1910 by legendary rod designer and craftsman E.C. Powell. Working with bamboo in these early years, he developed a manufacturing process that optimized fly rod performance and allowed him to make blanks in different weights. As time went on and technology progressed, the family-owned operation also began working with materials like fiberglass and graphite to meet varied customer needs. Although fishing rods were quickly evolving, every product the Powell family produced was a representation of the true passion they had for the sport and their craft. Throughout the following years, the Powell brand lived on despite many changes. It was in 1996 when an avid angler and master rod designer named Keith Bryan joined the company. Keith started his career in the front office assisting with orders, purchases, designs, and development of materials and blank mandrels. Despite his early successes within the company, the ultimate goal was to not only continue his professional growth, but revolutionize and diversify the Powell nameplate as well. Starting in the year 2000, Keith began designing rods for local tournament fishermen. While the rods quickly proved themselves on local circuits, he paid close attention to all of the feedback from these and other anglers in the field. With all of the knowledge and experience gained both personally and professionally, Keith realized one of his biggest goals in 2005 with the release of the original MAX series of bass rods. This lineup proved to be an enormous success and completely revolutionized the concept of affordable performance.
ALL TACKLE WORLD RECORD 10 lbs. 7 oz. Spotted Bass 02/22/2014-02/21/2015
CURRENT WORLD RECORD 16 lbs. Line Class Spotted Bass
Today, Powell continues to be a widely-respected brand that offers a broad spectrum of both conventional and fly rods. As company CEO, Keith works hard both in and out of the office to ensure that his company and products are the very best they can be. When he’s not at headquarters talking to customers and graphite engineers, Keith can often be found on the road at various events or testing his latest theories. Oh yeah, he fishes too. A lot. He is a winning tournament competitor, avid saltwater angler, and held the All Tackle world record of 10 lbs. 7 oz. for the spotted bass from 02/22/2014–02/21/2015. Currently holds the WORLD RECORD in the 16 lb. line class for the spotted bass of 10 lbs. 7 oz. With the guidance of Keith Bryan and the loyal following of an amazing customer base, Powell is undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with in the world of fishing rods!

We designed the new MAX 3D series from the ground up to deliver stunning performance day in and day out. As an evolution of our Endurance and original MAX lineups, we blended attributes of these outgoing models with fresh cutting-edge technologies to create a stunning new series of rods. The end result? These are brutally strong, lightweight, keenlysensitive instruments that will deliver the precision you desire. By using special IM-8 fibers, our engineers were able to use a minimum of material in each blank with absolutely no compromise in strength. Of course, the upgrades don’t just stop there. Every casting rod features new proprietary Powell skeletal reel seats, while all spinning models incorporate Pac Bay Minima seats. We’ve also given all models features like Fuji Alconite guides, high-grade cork grips, and galvanized metal trim rings. The handsome looks of our original MAX series couldn’t be left behind, so we carried over the matte-gray blank and complimenting wraps, but added Green coloration around the logo area and between the split grips. Powell has always been known for delivering awesome products for your hard-earned dollars, and we continue that tradition with the MAX 3D series. Each rod truly delivers much more than what you’re used to in this category. All MAX 3D rods are also backed by our lifetime “no hassle” warranty. Performance, value, and sexy good looks—the new MAX 3D series from Powell Rods. Fish with Tradition!
Max 3D 711 LEF For anglers that fish the smallest baits on the lightest line, this is your stick. Our 711 LEF boasts the perfect blend of both finesse and power. The forgiving tip allows you to properly fish a shaky head or drop shot, while the generous backbone makes it a cinch to set the hook on a whopper spotted bass.
Max 3D 712 MLEF Here’s an awesome all-around spinning rod for all types of light to medium applications. This is the one to bring if you aren’t quite sure what mood the fish will be in. From shaky heads to tubes, the 712 MLEF will get the job done right.
Max 3D 713 MEF
Max 3D 714 MHEF
Not all rods are created equal, and the 713 MEF has no rivals. If you require a gutsy spinning rod that has the ability to fish bulkier plastics in open water or around brush, then do yourself a favor and have at least one of these on deck. Perfect for fishing tubes, heftier drop-shot rigs, or small creature baits, once you set the hook the bass will know who’s boss.
Spinning rods are much more than strictly finesse tools, and this stick proves it. Pick up a 714 MHEF for fishing baits like football jigs, tubes, and carolina rigs. The extra-fast taper means that you’ll be able to set the hook with unapologetic authority!
Max 3D 683 CEF Medium Heavy For picking apart shoreline cover and structure, this is about as good as it gets. Although the recent trend has been towards rods measuring 7 feet and over, you can’t ignore the precision a shorter rod offers. Not only is it impressive in the shallow stuff, the 683 CEF also performs flawlessly with plastics and lighter jigs out a bit deeper.
Max 3D 723 CEF Medium Heavy If you were forced to bring just one rod with you, this would be a top contender. With a length of 7-feet 2-inches and a 3-power rating, this stick covers a dizzying array of mediumduty techniques. It excels with jigs, worms, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, small paddletails, etc.
7
Max s3D Serie
Max 3D 753 CEF Medium Heavy Similar in versatility to our 723 CEF, this rod achieves even greater line control and higher performance at long distances. Awesome for an array of techniques, its longer handle also helps give it an edge when fishing football jigs, Carolina rigs, and Texas rigs. Don’t leave the dock without one!
Max 3D 714 CEF Heavy When the cover is a bit thicker and the bass are a bit bigger; your equipment needs some extra grunt. The 4-power rating gives you plenty of “oomph” for not only fishing in and around modest cover, but also when tossing larger offerings in open water.
Max 3D 715 CEF Mag-Heavy
Max 3D 734 CF Heavy
This rod is so good it should be illegal. Touting a 7-foot 1-inch length and a beastly 5-power rating, this is the tool for heavy-duty applications ranging from pitching into shoreline thickets, to hopping a heavy jig around your secret offshore waypoint. Mean bass require a mean rod, and the 715 CEF is as bad as they come.
Our original MAX 734 CF was easily one of our hottest offerings. This stellar stick blends the perfect length, power, and action for a multitude of techniques. A great bottom-contact rod, the forgiving tip also means it’s equally capable with baits like hollow-body swimbaits, buzzbaits, and spinnerbaits.
Max 3D 6104 CB G/C Mod-Fast Medium
Max 3D 804 CB Mod-Fast Medium
Probing shorelines with reaction baits just got a whole lot easier with this baby. For fishing jerkbaits, shallow crankbaits, and topwaters at short to medium distances, it doesn’t get much better than this. It’s the perfect blend of power and forgiveness to amplify your reaction bait fishing!
Do you want to launch your crankbait into another time zone? The 804 CB is the ticket. When you need to cover acres of water in a heartbeat, this beast of a cranking rod delivers absolutely jaw-dropping distances. One cautionary note: just make sure your reel holds enough line.
8
Max 3D 705 CB G/C Mod-Fast Medium Heavy The 7-foot length and 5-power rating of the 705 CB makes this the perfect weapon for deep cranking or ripping a lipless crank through weeds. It contains plenty of muscle, but still displays that lovely butter-smooth forgiveness that is a requirement when fishing baits with treble hooks.
Max 3D 725 CB Mod-Fast Medium Heavy Featuring the same capabilities of the 705 CB, this rod adds a couple inches for extra distance and control. Although it’s still soft enough to be labeled a crankbait model, it boasts the additional sensitivity of full graphite construction for anglers that haven’t quite warmed up to the “old school” feeling of a composite rod.
Max 3D 755 CB G/C Mod-Fast Medium Heavy
Max 3D 7115 CB G/C Mod-Fast Medium Heavy
So, you need even more length? This 7-foot 5-inch rod offers the necessary power to effectively fish deep cranks or cover huge weed flats. Uncommonly light for a composite rod, you’ll be astounded by its performance.
Do you love to throw DD22’s and other large crankbaits? Our 7115 CB is THE tool for the job. No other crankbait rod on the market offers the enticing combination of length, performance, precision, and price of this monster. When you need to crank the deepest water, you need to reach for the best rod.
Max 3D 764 CF Mag Medium Now here’s a long rod that gives the angler some serious versatility when it comes to medium-duty applications. Our 764 CF offers the right action and power whether you’re fishing docks or offshore rock piles. Jigs, plastics, and hefty spinnerbaits are just a few of the baits within its capabilities.
Max 3D 795 CF Mag Medium Heavy If you want to flip and punch but keep your rod under the 8-foot mark, you’d be wise to pay attention. The 7-foot 9-inch length offers superior line control, while the 5-power rating enables you to tame an unruly lunker buried deep in the bulrushes. Don’t just fish heavy cover, OWN it!
Max 3D 736 CEF Frog Mag Heavy Honestly, finding the proper frog rod can be an exercise in frustration. It’s extremely important to find a rod with a soft tip that transitions quickly into raw backbone. This allows the angler to easily cast and walk a frog, but still affords gobs of power for easy hookups. Whether you’re tossing your toad into open water or onto floating mats, reach for a 736 CEF frog rod.
Max 3D 765 CF Mag Medium Heavy The 7-foot 6-inch length has been the standard size for flipping sticks throughout the years, so it’s only natural that we offer one this size too! The fast action of the 765 CF means that this rod doesn’t behave like a total broomstick, which also makes it ideal for other things like smaller swimbaits or fishing the heaviest spinnerbaits in deep water.
Max 3D 775 CEF Mag Medium Heavy This is a smart choice for both flipping shallow cover and fishing big jigs and plastics out in the depths. The long length means it’s easy to reach those far weed pockets, while in open water you’ll appreciate its ability to fish at extreme distances. If you hate finesse fishing, you’ll love the 775 CEF.
Max 3D 806 CF Punch/Flip Mag Heavy Wimpy. Weak. Two words NOT used to describe our 806 CF. This stick has all the strength of a champion powerlifter, but you won’t need 22-inch arms to fish it. An extremely user-friendly rod, you’ll be able to haul the biggest bass out of the nastiest cover with ease. This is your rod, Florida anglers!

Inferno 6101 LEF Drop shots. Shaky heads. Darter heads. Core finesse fishing techniques such as these demand a hardcore spinning rod. With the 6101 LEF we have struck the perfect balance of power and finesse to give you an unmatched finesse tool for the money. With a length of 6’10” and sporting an extra fast action, this 4-10lb spinning rod is absolutely perfect for light line applications from the bank out to deep offshore structure. The forgiving tip quickly shuts off and gives way to surprising backbone, which enables the angler to fish plastics properly, and set the hook efficiently.
Inferno 702 MLEF This is a phenomenal all around spinning rod for an array of finesse techniques. It works great for everything from small worms and drop shotting, to fishing little jigs, tubes, and grubs. The 7 foot length is a real asset when fishing at long distances, as it aids in improving distance and hook setting efficiency. Lake Erie Smallmouth, beware!
Inferno 6103 MEF
Inferno 6104 CB
This is THE rod responsible for the all-tackle world record 10.48-pound spotted bass caught by Powell CEO Keith Bryan. The 3-power rating makes it a rock star for offerings like heftier drop shots, tubes, and yes, even Senko-style baits. Whether pounding the banks or offshore rock piles, the light weight and extra-fast taper makes this an extremely crisp rod that keeps you in control during the most demanding light-line situations – like catching world records.
Topwaters, crankbaits, and rip baits are right up the alley of the 6104 CB. The moderate-fast action allows just enough “give” to fish these baits perfectly without being too soft for effective hook setting. With a length of 6’10” and rated up to 3/4 ounce lures, this 4 power stick will easily handle most common-sized hard baits at short to medium distances. If you dream about cranking riprap on the California Delta or throwing poppers on Toledo Bend, it’s time to wake up and grab yourself a 6104 CB!
Inferno 703 CEF
Inferno 704 CEF
Everyone needs at least one all-around rod on board. You know, a rod that can handle everything from a jig to a spinnerbait. If this is the type of stick you’re after, you can put the brakes on right here because the 703 CEF has your name on it. With a length of 7 feet and rated up to 3/4 ounce lures, this hot shot will handle a wide range of everyday baits around light to modest cover. On many bodies of water, a few of these strapped to the deck might just be all you’ll ever need!
A bit beefier version of our 703 CEF, this 4 power rod will handle heavier baits weighing up to 1 ounce. This is an excellent choice as an all-around worm and jig rod, but it also works great for heavy spinnerbaits, some frogging, and smaller swimbaits. We gave this stick an extra fast action for authoritative hook setting power, even at a long distance. With capabilities of fishing up to 20lb line, you can confidently fish this rod in and around some thicker cover and still easily haul out Mr. Bass.

Glass/Composite
Getting the itch to do some heavier duty cranking? The Inferno 705 CB should grab your attention. This composite 7 foot, 5 power crankbait rod features the silky smooth moderate-fast action you want, but is shockingly light in weight. Rated up to 7/8 ounce, it’s perfect for medium and some deep divers, as well as a multitude of lip-less and square-bill crankbaits. That lovely forgiveness you can only get from a composite blank lets you fish these baits with supreme efficiency, and keeps that 5lber hung all the way back to the boat.
Inferno 704 CB Medium Mod-Fast This glass 7-footer is perfect for a variety of baits ranging from lip-less cranks, to topwaters, to hard jerkbaits. We tuned the action perfectly to offer just the right amount of softness that will keep treble hooks where they need to be—solidly in the lips of a tournament-winning kicker!
Inferno 734 CF Don’t let the slightly softer fast action fool you here. This rod has all the muscle you’ll ever need, with just a bit more forgiving of a tip than our extra fast rods. At an “in between” length of 7’3”, the 734 CF will be a perfect compromise for many anglers. Rated up to 20lb line and 1 ounce lures, it has many of the same capabilities as our 704 CEF, just with the added benefit of slightly more length for added casting range and line control. A superstar when it comes to jig and worm fishing, this amazing rod will astound you with it’s versatility. From Super Spooks, to big spinnerbaits, and even some frogging, you can’t afford to leave the dock without one of these. The Bass likely wouldn’t mind, though!
Inferno 725 MHCF Heading to Falcon Lake soon and need to fill a void in your rod locker? Pay close attention. This stout stick will handle medium to heavy duty applications, and pull big Bass away from cover with authority. Jigs to frogs, it gets the job done. It’s a serious rod for serious Bassin. Leave the finesse tackle at home!
Inferno 765 CEF
Inferno 765 SBR CF
Delta rats, are you paying attention? Toho regulars, are you reading this? The Inferno 765 CEF is one hot stick, geared towards heavy duty applications where thicker cover is the norm. This rod is ready and willing to be fished around heavy cover, and will easily pull out a hefty bucketmouth. Not just a heavy cover tool, don’t overlook this bad boy for fishing offshore with beastly spinnerbaits, and the biggest jigs and worms on the market. The long 7’6” length coupled with the extra fast action means hook sets from extreme distances are accomplished without drama.
Here’s a very well-rounded stick for lighter swimbait duties... “lighter” being a relative term in the world of swimbaiting, of course! This rod will handle everything from soft to hard baits up to 3 ounces in weight, and works well with big topwaters like the Black Dog Lunker Punker. Though it possesses head-turning power, the moderate-fast action and forgiving tip makes it easy to fish baits at the lower end of the rod’s range.

Our 906-4 is the weapon you need when targeting larger trout or dealing with more challenging conditions. This stick will effectively cut through a modest breeze and deliver a fly right where you need it. Good for more than just trout, anglers will also appreciate this 6-weight when chasing other species like bass, summer steelhead, or even smaller bonefish and snook.
LegacyXL FLY 908-4
LegacyXL FLY 909-4
Like the 5-weight, an 8-weight is the king of versatility for saltwater and heavy freshwater angling. Our fast action effectively delivers the goods whether you need to place a quick, short cast at 3 o’clock to a tailing redfish or swing a streamer down-and-across for winter steelies. With the 908-4 you’ll never be left asking for more!
In saltwater, wind and big flies are part of the game. The 9-weight is a supreme tool in the fight against these two challenges, and with our 909-4 in hand you’ll always come out on top. When a little more power is needed to chuck a 350-grain sinking line into a striper rip or make a long cast across a wind-whipped Islamorada flat, this rod will perform. Freshwater anglers will love this stick for mean species like big bass and king salmon.
