In her capacity as Executive Vice President with the National Fair Housing Alliance, Ms. Rice oversees the marketing, communications, resource development, public policy and enforcement initiatives of the agency. She is responsible for helping to achieve the organization’s goal of addressing the crisis of segregation in America and the ultimate goal of realizing a truly open society. Lisa joined NFHA in 2006 after serving as CEO of the Toledo Fair Housing Center and the Northwest Ohio Development Agency (NODA). The Fair Housing Center is one of the nation’s premier fair housing organizations. NODA, which Lisa helped to found, is a community development financial institution providing below-market interest loans, grants and financial services to historically under- served markets. Ms. Brancart is a partner at the law firm Brancart & Brancart located in Pescadero, California, that specializes in federal fair housing litigation. She graduated from the University of California, Boalt Hall School of Law in 1985, then clerked for the Honorable Vincent L. McKusick, the Chief of Justice of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court. Since 1994, Ms. Brancart has represented plaintiffs in federal fair housing litigation, focusing on appellate and motion work before the district courts. She has represented plaintiffs in Fair Housing Acts cases in the Supreme Court of the United States, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and Federal District courts. Some of her notable fair housing cases are Meyer v. Holley, 537 U.S. 280 (2003); Pacific Shores Properties, LLC v. City of Newport Beach, 730 F.3d 1142 (9th Cir. 2013); Giebeler v. M&B Associates, 343 F.3d 1143 (9th Cir. 2003); and Harris v. Itzhaki, 183 F.3d 1043 (9th Cir. 1999).
