Rosenvilde Videregående Skole, Studiespesialisering med Formgiving
ABOUT I have recently completed my Bachelor´s degree in Architecture at Newcastle University, United Kingdom. Through the course, I have worked with many projects, from small private properties to more complex and commercial buildings with highly more detail and organization of spaces. With the experience I have had, it has given me the desire to pursue my profession within architecture. It has enabled me to understand different cultures and diversity of design in a conceptual way, to a more concrete and well-thought design. I believe that this enables a formwork in which we can sustain and nurture communities. I consider myself highly enthusiastic with a positive attitude and a strong team player. I bring forward fresh creative ideas and enjoy learning new skills from people in all levels.

PRIMER PROJECT - Material conditions A study of the atmosphere and textures around Richmond, North Yorkshire. This helped us to understand the local environment and the physical conditions around the site. This task was crucial for the beginning of the design process, as we would have inspiration to draw from and take consideration of the exisiting elements in Richmond. The town is so rich in history and the local people have preserved this very well; a town that almost froze in time. Here, I used different drawing methods such as ink, pencil and watercolour to achieve various textures and feel for the environment.

GRADUATION PROJECT: A Photographic Institute The concept behind the approach was to enable the oppositions work together. We always seem to be sorrounded around buildings and nature, but never fully understood the in-between spaces and their importance to the society. Here, I focused on the relationship between the outside and inside. All the models below are casted in plasterwork.
Concept 1 First massing model showing various courtyards in between the buildings.
Concept 2 Second approach emphasising similar narrow pathways as Richmond with sharp corners.
Concept 3 Simpler shape with large open courtyards and only some narrow pathways.

Final plaster model with context “I like to find something in-between. Every kind of definition has an in-between space. Especially if the definitions are two opposites, then the in-between space is more rich.” – Sou Fujimoto
THE PHOTOGRAPHIC INSTITUTE - Public building The public building would act as a gallery for anyone who wants to see the exhibition that the students have created. The concept is to highlight and showcase Richmond in an artistic way. Portraying the historical aspects in which the visitors would connect to the town.

The second part of the school is rather larger, and the spaces here are more flexible. They can be transformed into different purposes, depending what conditions the student want to achieve. The ceiling is rather leveled into different heights to mimic the Richmond-like roofscapes, but also to achieve interesting lighting conditions.

THE PHOTOGRAPHIC INSTITUTE - Building Programme
When developing the design, I took into account the condition of the site and used the slope. In terms of environmental aspects, there will be less need for excavation of the site and the different levels of roofscapes will attract light into the rooms and achieve various lighting conditions that are needed for photography.

The concept that is driven in this project is the meeting between the natural and urban grain of Richmond. Pathways and outdoor spaces are connecting the different elements together, making it a small-scale city and a feeling of community. It is a photographic instition that would

STAGE 2 PROJECT - Prospect & Refuge For this project we are to design a medium-scale building which includes both private and public elements. It`s meant to be a cultural centre where people can watch performances and learn at the same time. My approach was to enable an interaction, at the same time have the opportunity for privacy.

STAGE 2 PROJECT - Living on the Edge The project aims to reslove the programmatic and contextual challenges associated with designing a small housing scheme in the heart of Newcastle. The building is intended to help to meet the needs of a group of disadvantaged young people. The concept of my design was to divide the private and public activities. One building was residential for the students and the other was for the public where students could exhibit their work. The outdoor areas would act as a meeting point for both public and private.
STAGE 2 PROJECT - Crossover This group project was to engage with chares in Newcastle by Quayside area. Our intention of the chare was to attract people using musical tubes. The tubes would look like the pipes which run vertically by the buildings, but the end of the tube there would be a trumpet-end where people can listen to music which will be played from the top of the chare. The lattice would act as shelters and protect from any rain or any bad weather. They are also designed to diffuse or to collect the sound from the music. The whole project was basically making models in large scale to be put up in the exhibition.
Concave ceilings create areas of focused sound, concentrating it in the constructive centre thus increasing the intensity of the sound. They also reflect external sounds creating an isolated pocket of noise.
Convex ceilings spread the sound evenly and therefore act as diffusers. This means that the sound can be heard from further away than with concave ceilings. Reflective materials should be used to enhance this quality.
