olume one of four! The original intention was to create one magazine with the ultimate images of all submissions making it into a book no larger than 60 pages. However... With the constant marketing over the last couple months, and badgering of popular models and photographers all over the world, we quickly found ourselves inundated with over 1000 individual submissions. The number of submissions compared to our regular quarterly issue was very impressive! With that being said, it was only obvious that a swimsuit issue is something that everybody loves. Well, everybody in this industry anyway! While it is available for free online, Snap Matter Magazine is a remote published print publication, and the print version is somewhat pricey as a result. With the giant number of photo submissions, it was obvious we had a dilemma on our hands. We decided that one giant issue would be too expensive to publish and sell online. The decision to break one issue into four volumes, spread out over the course of one month, would be a better option. That way we could keep the page count down per vol-
ume while keeping the cost of the print edition down for the average consumer. We probably could have created a respectable coffee table book, but we’re a magazine, and books are even pricier. It was important to us to leave a little lettuce in everyone’s wallet. Snap Matter prides itself on networking. So while you won’t see top name celebrity images from cover to cover, you will see images of, and from, individuals who are trying to get their work in front of eyeballs. Whether it is an effort to be discovered, or like-minded people just looking to learn and connect with others to hone their craft. All four volumes will be relatively simple in form. Since we are keeping the volumes small and tidy, we are minimizing editorial and providing full page images as much as possible. Thanks to everyone who submitted images. If you submitted, and don’t see your image(s) in this volume, remember -- there are three more left. If your image(s) don’t make it into any of the four volumes, we encourage you to keep trying for future opportunities.
ON THE COVER Photographer, Kris Joal, gets the nod for the Volume 1 cover of the first annual Snap Matter Swimsuit Edition. While Kris did not capture model Jamie Lynne Williamson exclusively for Snap Matter, it was one of those contracted, horizontal, calendar shots that went unedited. Until now of course! So if this didn’t make the calendar, imagine the quality shots that actually made the cut.
