Professional Work Skidmore Owings and Merrill 09/07-05/09 Construction Documents This is a sample of the construction documents that I directly worked on while working on the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. I was a hired in the transportation planning studio, a smaller team within the urban design department. After one year, I transferred to the technical architecture team to continue working on the airport as the project moved into design development. My primary responsibility was to maintain and update the architectural plans. This included laying out the functional areas and programmatic adjacencies. I worked to develop the floor plans from schematic design into the construction document phase. As I transitioned to the technical team I additionally assumed responsibilities for the conveyance systems, fixed bridges, and finally the podium curtain wall.

Professional Work Skidmore Owings and Merrill 09/07-05/09 Area Calculation I was further responsible for the project’s area calculation. As the project continually evolved and I had to maintain and quantify that all the programmatic areas met the requirements specified in program document. The results of these studies were used to estimate the project’s cost. These cost assesments led the the team to work through a value engineering exercise, shedding over 100,000 sq meters at the end of the schematic design phase. Additionally, these served as rendered plans to illustrate the distribution and breakdown of program spaces.
Professional Work Skidmore Owings and Merrill 09/07-05/09 Architectural Diagrams While working in the transportation planning studio, I was responsible for illustrating key building concepts in the form of diagrams. This axonometic is one in a series of diagrams which aim to calculate the walking travel times among key arrival and transfer sequences. The second example is one of a series which depicts the gate forcasts. These diagrams illustrate the domestic to international swing capabilities of the terminal as the flight and boarding requirements change over the course of the day.
Degree Project Rhode Island School of Design. M-Arch 07’ The origin of this project was a non traditional approach to site research. This was conducted through a series of perceptual drawings of Providence’s Fox Point. This work approaches ideas of spatial perception, distinguishing perceiving and recording spaces. The thesis was influenced by Baudelaire’s and Benjamin’s conception of the Flaneur as the modern social and cultural commentator that finds meaning from empirical observations, navigating between the buildings making assessment of a
city that he is a member of. From my initial series of drawings I concluded that I was interested in ideas of a paired view. I decided that the conceptual idea of the project would be the created two buildings that would sit and gaze at each other. Further, I intended to continue to work through perspective and describe a building through sequence.

Advanced Architectural Studio- Fall 06’ Rhode Island School of Design- Pablo Castro This studio brief sited in Sara Roosevelt Park in the lower east side of new york city took its origins from the mass transit routes that provided access to the site. Beginning with a diagram of streets, subways and bus lines, I came to a concept of a building that extended out and presented itself to the many circulation paths of the site. I prioritized intersections allowing program to concentrate on high density locations. The ideas of movement, sequence and program interest me a great deal and I was able to further my understanding of these concepts in my degree project.
