This belief was a factor in his accomplishment in becoming a member of one of the most prestigious National Basketball Clubs in the world. Jeff Sanders is a former Professional Basketball Player who was selected by the Chicago Bulls in the 1st round (20th overall) of the 1989 NBA Draft. Sanders played for the Bulls, Charlotte Hornets and Atlanta Hawks in 5 NBA seasons. He played collegiately at Georgia Southern University. He played professional basketball for 16 yrs in the NBA, European leagues, and the CBA. He is recognized in his hometown of Augusta, Georgia by the Richmond County Board of Commissioners by receiving the Outstanding Athletic Achievement Award. Jeff owns the Georgia Southern school single season record for points scored. The school honored him by retiring his jersey (#42) which was only the second in school history. He was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame at Georgia Southern where he has broken and set many records from minutes played to points scored. He has varied experiences in coaching, mentoring as well as student athlete training.
Jeff is a motivator, who is determined to make not only “A difference” but make “The difference.” He stresses to all (both young and old) that motivation is an inner drive that compels a person to succeed. He believes that it is never too late to reinvent oneself into excellence. His accomplishments off the court are just as impressive supporting many worthwhile causes throughout the country. One of Jeff’s accomplishments as a Mentor and Motivator was being asked to serve as a member of the Advisory Board of AAD (Athletes Against Drugs – Founder, Stedman Graham). The American Basketball Association (ABA) www.abalive.com today announced that it has added Rocky Mount NC to its growing list of expansion teams for next season. “This is the third team that will be owned by Carolina Cats Sports & Entertainment,” stated ABA CEO Joe Newman. “Dr. LeVonder Brinkley and her two daughters, LoveN’der Avent Alston and Lexandria Avent are putting together quite an organization with the previously announced Carolina Jaguars and Tre4 Cheetahs. The Carolina Cougars should be a tremendous addition to the league.” The team will be managed by VP of Sports Operations for the parent organization, Tommy Stevenson. Tommy has extensive experience as well as a colorful basketball history. He spent 25 years in the US Air Force and was a Fire Chief/Instructor supervising 85 fire fighters, $60 million dollars in military equipment, and provided fire support for Air Force One Presidential visits. He also played basketball in the Air Force and coached, developing a youth athletic program in Belgium. Following his retirement, he coached AAU and won two championships and made the nationals eight out of nine years. The famous Julius Peppers (NFL Chicago Bears) was one of the players on his AAU team. Two of Mr. Stevenson’s sons are professional basketball players now playing in Korea, the home of their mother. The Carolina Cats are gearing up for The May 21st tryout and Youth and Parent Empowerment camp. We are making improvements based on the feedback we got from coaches and players that participated in the March 12th event. We are seeking sponsors to assist with some of the needed supplies such as water, Gatorade, fruit, snacks, towels etc. We also need sponsors for contest give-aways.

Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina is one of the most sought after areas in the United States to live. Having traveled extensively by way of career choice, I have had the opportunity to share with others on the impact that the citizens have in making a major difference within our communities. The talent level in North Carolina is extremely high and we need more of those talented players to know about us. We are all about providing an opportunity for the athletes and everyone that is part of the organization to be able to move to the next level if that is their Dream.
The exposure gained for being a part of the league is invaluable. It's all about getting a second chance to show what you can do. We want the ABA brand to be a household word in each of our markets. We think the communities we serve will have an opportunity to watch some affordable, fun, fast paced, exciting basketball within a wholesome family atmosphere.
We are working to have several exhibition games and at least one tournament prior to the start of league play in late November early December. After the teams have been selected, we will have a Family Fun Festival in each community. Members of communities are asked to help plan these events for your community. At the event, fans will meet their team, watch the team practice, get autographs; VIP season ticket buyers and VIP Fast Break Club member buyers will have the opportunity to enter a drawing to compete for cash, cars, and prizes; fans will enjoy entertainment, and much, much more. Jeff Sanders My observation of the tryouts was that there was great talent there but I didn't feel that everyone came out and gave their best effort possible. I didn't think some of the players realized how serious the tryouts were. While I saw many talented guys, I didn't see a lot of defense and team effort. I didn't see a group of guys that were really hungry for an opportunity to do something that they love and get paid for it. The drills were important because we wanted to see their athleticism and how well each guy followed directions. The purpose of the tryouts is to find 45 players that we can put on the floor that share the same drive and that is to win a championship.
During the tryouts on May 21st we are really looking for players that exhibit professionalism and that are willing to work hard and work together. We will spend more time on playing games or some type of tournament where each guy will get a chance to show case his talent. We need guys who can put the ball in the basket, but we also need guys that can defend and shut players down individually and as a team. We are also searching for on the court leaders who lead by example and that are not taking any plays off during a game. Because I played in the pros and minor leagues as well as overseas I know that this league is a tough and physical league, so we need guys who are tough and who also follow directions We will spend more time scrimmaging so that we can carefully find guys that will stand out. But our ultimate goal is to find those players who are dedicated and gifted in the skill of playing basketball. While integrity is important we want all the athletes to understand you must fill all requirements before you can be processed. There will be no player exceptions as the quality of our players must begin with the integrity of their word. Back to Back ABA World Championships
The SETX Mavericks (35-1) defeated Gulf Coast Division rival the Gulf Coast Flash 10985 at Nutty Jerry's Entertainment Center (NJEC) on Monday night to win Back to Back ABA World Championships. The Mavericks went 4-0 in the ABA World Championship Finals by defeating the East Kentucky Energy 122-91 and the previously undefeated Jacksonville Giants 109-87 in the preliminary rounds of the Championship Finals. The Mavs swept the ABA Championship Series 2-0 with a 114-97 victory in Game 1 and a 109-85 win in Game 2. SETX ended the season with a 26 game winning streak and with a 39 game home court winning streak. The Mavericks were consistent and dominate all season long as they were ranked #1 in the ABA Power ranking for the entire season and for a record 33 straight regular season weeks over the past two seasons. On Monday night as they have done during the entire 2010-11 season the Mavs got off to a fast start led by PJ Cousinard, Myles Thrash, and Jon Rogers. The Mavs took a quick 9-2 lead. SETX's stifling defense limited the Flash to only 2 field goals in the entire first quarter and the Mavs led 32-10 after one period of play. In the second quarter Gulf Coast forwards Freeman Taylor and Luther Suggs got the Flash going, but DeSean White came off the Mavs bench to keep the Mavericks ahead with his timely jump shots. The Mavericks led at half-time 50-35. In the third period of play the two teams exchanged baskets as Taylor, Suggs, and Carlos Riley scored big hoops for the Flash. Cousinard, Odell Bradley, and super sub Desmond Cambridge kept the Flash at bay. The Mavericks took a 17 point lead into the final period of play. SETX big men Brandon Davis, Lamar Sanders, Alex Sanders, White, and Rogers took over the painted area in the final period of play to dominate for the Mavericks. The Flash could get no closer than 15 points and the Mavericks cruised to their second ABA Title with a 24 point victory to seize Back to Back Championships! Cousinard and Bradley each scored 16 points to lead the Mavericks in scoring. Cambridge added 15 points. Thrash added 12 points. White chipped in 11 points off the bench for the Mavs. Rogers followed up with 10 points. Taylor led the Flash with 15 points and pulled down 13 rebounds. Cameron Durr added 14 points for Gulf Coast.

TV Advertising – Sponsors will have the opportunity to have their name and logo included in TV advertising for Carolina Cats Inc. Radio Advertising – Sponsors will have the opportunity to have their companies name included in all Carolina Cats Inc. three team market home games. Print Collateral – Posters, mini cards, and other print collateral are distributed throughout the North Carolina Market In-Arena Interactive Promotions – Sponsors will have the opportunity to have an interactive booth on the concourse of NCCU Arena
In-Arena Signage – Can include on-court signage, courtside signage, LED signage, and video board Product Placement – Opportunity to provide a gift or item to a specified number of attendees of home games.
Internet/Database Marketing – Names and logos included on all e-blasts, including blasts to Media and Fan based markets and Top Donors Game Tickets/Employee Incentive Program – Sponsor to receive a specified number of game tickets per home games.
