Silent Crime Romnick Bontigao(IV-St. Therese of the Child Jesus)
Have you experience being harassed by a stranger, by your classmates, your schoolmates, or even by your teacher? What did you feel? The use of force to abuse a person - this is what you called Bullying! There are many types of bullying; social bullying, indirect bullying, intimidation, cyber bullying, and the most popular in a school, the physical bullying. Feeling secured for all the moments, it is an important thing that a student wants to have. But there are many people take it away from them. Bullying will never be vanished in a school, because there are students who treat themselves as the king or the queen of the class. In addition to, there are students that are afraid to speak out and stand for theirselves. For the bully, it gives such happiness to them. Because they feel being superior among the rest. They always want to be the boss in the class. And they want that their command is always being followed by their classmates or sometimes they are being called as a “Pet”. They are insensitive about the feelings of their classmates that they are bullying; they’re just thinking for the benefits of what they are doing for theirselves. They are selfish, because they don’t think the rights of every person; instead they humiliated the morals of others. But for those students who have been bullied by people that they treat as their boss, it make them depressed; for always thinking that they are lowly among others. Moreover, being bullied pulled the self-confidence of a person. Because bullying gives irrational fear to a person and always worrying for every mobe they will do. It is not motivating, but frostating the life of a person. Hey... Wake up! Did you know that bullying can cause suicide? There are youth victims who killed themselves because of the depression it brings to them. There are only two things that flow in their heart - weakness and fear. And the thing we must do to them is to be their stress reliever. If we see fears in their mind, let us talk to them nicely to lessen the pain in their heart. Also, we should remember respect the rights of everyone. In our school, we should remember that we are all equal. In general, you should have the knowledge about bullying. You must remember the right of every students. For the bully, i know that it is your happiness to scold, tease, or gossip your fellow classmates, but did you ever think the feelings of being bullied? And for those students that atre being bullied , don’t be afraid to speak. Do not remain silent and always keep in your mind that you should love yourself, stand for your right and do the things that you think that will make your personality strong. Let us all remember the golden rule that Confucius share us - “Do not do to others what you don’t want others do unto you”. Let us all live with respect and love.
Liceans, let me hear your voice
Did you ever experience to be bullied? What did you feel? Sometimes I am experiencing being bullied, and I don’t tell my parents or teacher about it. Because if I will tell it to them, they will say that I am a weak and coward child. I don’t fight the bullies because I am afraid of getting scoulded and having a bad record to the guidance counselor. (Emanuelle Liam Beato) I am not experiencing being bullied, because I’m avoiding myself to be involved in a battle. (Marie Lorraine Bispo) I do not encountered such bullying by my classmates; because even they are naughty, they are good to me. Also, because I respect them. (Therese Anthea Obero) I’m not a bully and I don’t let anyone to bully me, because I’m a dignified person and I know how to respect others. (Chriselle Alyssa Belen)
For Bullies: Don’t bully your classmates or anybody. Because you don’t know how it hurts and you also have your own weakness that con also be thrown to you. Not every people is as good as you, but that was not enough reason to bully other person, You will understand what I am saying if you already experienced being bullied. I Hope you’ll learn that bullying is one of the most vain thing that you can do to your classmate. (Sarah Estudillo) For Victims: Don’t be afraid to speak out and let someone bully you. Stand for yourself. If you know that you are on the right path, just go. We need to be strong. And if you can’t handle the situation of being bullied, you must remember that you need to be strong not only for the people that bullied you, but for all the people that love you. Do not think those person who bullied you, maybe they’re just insecure to your personality. (Romnick Bontigao)

phase program to improve their weather alerts. Phase I is a public warning system specifically for thunderstorms. Currently, PAGASA is using thunderstorm alerts for specific areas throughout the Philippines, as shown by the weather bureau’s social media accounts. Phase II, on the other hand, is for larger weather disturbances such as low pressure areas, tropical depressions, and tropical cyclones. “The rainfall warning system is based on the intensity, characteristic and amount of rainfall,” said Uson. System shortcomings The current rainfall warning system has its shortcomings, however. According to GMA’s resident meteorologist, Nathaniel Cruz, the quick-changing nature of weather disturbances makes the warning system only useful for relatively short periods of time. “There might be times when, before you could
alert the public, the rain has already stopped,” Cruz pointed out. Cruz illustrated his point with Typhoon Ondoy in 2009 as an example: within a span of less than six hours, the conditions in Metro Manila had shifted from yellow to red. “People might not be able to evacuate with that short span of time,” Cruz said. “The public has long waited for an alert system like this, but it still needs improvement to be put to good use,” he added. But so far, Uson said that the public has been mostly receptive to the new warning system. “Based on the past few weeks, we have been receiving positive feedback, like during tropical cyclone Ferdie,” she said. Public storm signals Public storm warning signals (PSWS) given during tropical cyclones should not be mistaken for rainfall and flood warnings. According to the PAGASA web site, the purpose of the PSWS number is to warn the public of specific weather conditions related to an oncoming tropical cyclone. The PSWS is based not just on the amount of rainfall, but also on the strength and speed of the wind. Thus, the full impact of each PSWS signal is only felt after a certain lead time has passed. Simply Amazing
Make an Egg Float in Salt Bend a Straw with Your Eyes Water An egg sinks to the bottom if you drop it into a glass of ordinary drinking water but what happens if you add salt? The results are very interesting and can teach you some fun facts about density. What you’ll need: •One egg •Water •Salt •A tall drinking glass Instructions: 1.Pour water into the glass until it is about half full. 2.Stir in lots of salt (about 6 tablespoons). 3.Carefully pour in plain water until the glass is nearly full (be careful to not disturb or mix the salty water with the plain water). 4.Gently lower the egg into the water and watch what happens. What’s happening? Salt water is denser than ordinary tap water, the denser the liquid the easier it is for an object to float in it. When you lower the egg into the liquid it drops through the normal tap water until it reaches the salty water, at this point the water is dense enough for the egg to float. If you were careful when you added the tap water to the salt water, they will not have mixed, enabling the egg to amazingly float in the middle of the glass.
Using the power of your eyes, bend a straw sitting in half a glass of water without even touching it! It sounds like magic but it’s really another amazing scientific principle at work. What you’ll need: •A glass half filled with water •A straw •2 eyes (preferably yours) Instructions: 1.Look at the straw from the top and bottom of the glass. 2.Look at the straw from the side of the glass, focus on the point where the straw enters the water, what is strange about what you see?
Stab a Potato
Is it possible to stab a potato with a drinking straw? Find out with this fun science experiment for kids that shows how air pressure can be used in surprising ways. What you’ll need: •Stiff plastic drinking straws •A raw potato Instructions: 1.Hold a plastic drinking straw by it sides (without covering the hole at the top) and try quickly stabbing the potato, what happens? 2.Repeat the experiment with a new straw but this time place your thumb over the top, covering the hole.

One in a Million A strict teacher, that’s what most of the students first impression to him. But try to ask some of the Liceo de Calamba’s alumni, “Who is Sir Alex Malabanan?”. I have no doubt that they’ll answer, “The best teacher.” What makes this strict but humorous teacher the outstanding choice? Mr. Alex Malabanan, born in the 17th day of May year 1974, graduated at Laguna College of Business And Arts, Bachelor of Science Education Major in Mathematics, but his favorite subject is History. He started teaching at Liceo De Calamba last 2001 as an elementary teacher. MAPEH, Physics and Math are just some of the subjects that he can teach. He also became the discipline and C.A.T coordinator of our school, how versatile could this man be? For his co-teachers, he is a friend that you can depend on. He is the ‘Google’ of the faculty. His personality helped a lot to get along easily especially for the newcomers. For his students, he is not only a teacher but also a joker, a friend and a father. He’ll treat you not as his students but like his true sons and daughters. You can learn not only Math and Science lessons from him but also life lessons. With his words of wisdom, you will be inspired and you’ll strive to study harder. He is like Rexona, he won’t let you down. Everyday his time will be a student’s happy hour. He possesses the ability to make complicated things simple and fun. His different teaching technique helped a lot to make the lessons easy to understand, especially in his subject, Math. Everyday you will experience thrills from the surprise quizzes and find laughs even though you failed. It sounds kind a crazy right? But it’s just as what the students want, learning
while having fun. You’ll tell yourself that Math is a lovely subject if you have this man as your teacher. They say that you cannot call yourself as an alumni of Liceo De Calamba if you don’t know this sensible man. It’s been lightyears since he started teaching and inspiring students and it seems that he still doesn’t have a plan to leave his dear students. You can already consider him as one of Liceo De Calamba’s pillars. He is a big part of what his students are now. A man of humor, a nice father, a versatile human and an approachable mentor whose teachings goes beyond geometry. The man who is willing to sacrifice his profession in order for his students realize their faults. He knows what’s best for his children.” We are a family.”, those are the words that he always remind us of. He taught us ingredients of a healthy relationship with your section. We learned not only the formula of the area or the perimeter of a square but also the formula to a familylike relationship which is happiness and unity.

There are so many questions that comes to my mind every time I hear the word teacher. Like who are they? What they are doing? Why they means a lot to a student like me? And why there are so many children love them even though sometimes they look angry to them? Now I knew why, it’s because they lead each of those children to be a successful person someday, they teach them how to love and be loved by other people. They also guide those children what is the right and wrong to the things that a child will do. They teach them how to express their feelings without hurting other people. They encourage those children to love their own country by letting them know the history of our country Philippines. A teacher became our hero because they taught a lot of lessons to us, not only the academic one but also for Christianity. They are using their own talent and share it to help other people. Teacher is not like god but they can give intellect to other people by teaching them. They are not a god but they using God’s gift to help every single person or child to be enlighten and follow what is good that can lead them towards to their dreams. Teacher means a lot to everyone because without them there will be no engineers, nurses, doctors, etc. There is no one who will be able to make their dreams come true without a help and a guide of a teacher. That’s why for me, my teacher is also my hero even though sometimes we were scolded by them and were thinking that they are mad to us. But deep inside I knew that they love us and they just doing it for us to be able to do our job much better the second time we do it again. And I’m proud that I have met someone like them.
A Student’s Message Diana Marual
They taught us to read and write, And also, what’s right and wrong. Gives homeworks that we make at night, Some are projects that make us stay all night long. Sometimes they are boring, That puts us to sleep. But we have to keep on listening,
Coz, it’s all knowledge to keep. They are our second parents, So we have to love them as one. Their patience never ends, They forgive all the faults you’ve done. They treat us nicely,
Sometimes gets angry. They understands us clearly, They love us dearly. So thanks to all of you, Without you students can’t make it through. This poem is for all of you, My teacher, I love you.

Broken Wings God’s Radical Daughter
There was an angel, flapping her wings And she fly high. She was very happy as she lifted in the air As the seraphs give her a glare. As an angel filled with innocence of a child, She never know how to love. Until she met this cherubim, Sweet, gentle and mild. She got to know this cherubim, Until became closer to each other And build the friendship between them. And as day goes by, the friendship grows more and more And deeper than the usual. Until one day, the angel came to realize That she was falling from the clouds for that cherubim. The sweet, flowery words of the cherubim Caught the heart of the angel And they fall in love. O sweet angel, how so happy in heaven. But one day, the cherubin left her Never came back and never be seen again by her. The sweet angel turned into a gloomy one, Who can’t even fly. he tried to flap her wings. But no! She can’t stand up Because she’s an angel with a broken wings.

Sip a coffee while looking everywhere, I’ll take that moment and live with it forever. To there I’ll wear my fake moustache, A cute outfit and bring some cash, I won’t forget my cameras, Then I’ll post the pictures on my dash. City of love, It is called. A place for lover who falls, and the pretty tower named Eiffel It’s prettiness will make you puzzled. In this place you’ll find peace, Cause it have good melodies, There you can have good memories, It’s no other than the beautiful Paris.

I’m inlove with a vulnerable man, He’s handsome and his color’s tan, We both grew up on the same land, I had fell and became cranked. The man is now on my list, I got him for my wish. I think he got my true love’s kiss, Oh wait, Did he know I exist? I saw this man from a place, I don’t know his name, it’s still a craze, Our path doesn’t cross these past days. That’s why his identity is still a maze. The first time I saw him, the month was July, My eyes got peeled ‘cause I think he’s nice, He got swag and cool as ice, Oh I think I should’ve said “hi”. Our path crossed on the second day, When I saw him a melody played. Is saying “hi” would be okay? My mouth refused cause I’m ashamed. After that He doesn’t show, That’s why he is still Mr. Unknown, I hope I could tell and let him know That into him I just fall.
Waiting For someone PerfectlyIMPERFECT
I’ve been impatient and longing for some love. Always waiting for destiny to come. I always wonder if I’ll ever find my true love When will the emptiness fade away? I always dream myself to be with someone else But I always end up hurting myself Despite all the pain I have been through I will never get tired in waiting for love. Why do I jealous all my friends in love? Ever wond’ring if destiny will come. I always wonder if I’ll ever find my true love. When will the emptiness fade away? I hope myself someday to find that someone else On the right time when I’m really prepared And can handle the pain that will come. I will handle to God the emptiness in my heart.

You made me feel special in the beginning Like you always wanted was me I thought I would keep you forever And that you would never be far
Being young and being too busy about so many things, the first thing that we most often forget is to pray. We have to go out with friends, go to the malls on Sundays, and play computer games for as long as we want, but But know you’re father that ever we don’t have time to pray for even just You began to change a minute. Some say “forgive and forget.” But that is not true because no matter how much I sit by my window and watch we forgive, we can never forget. the day die hating myself Forgiveness is not about forgetfor all the tears that I cried. ting, it is about accepting. Chances PerfectlyIMPERFECT
Chances are made to redeem your fault but if you want a chance just to chase your guilt away, forget it, there’s no space for you ‘coz you don’t deserve it. Chances are given to prove that you deserve it. Everybody can say “sorry” in every mistake they made but showing the sincerity of being sorry, not everyone can do it. Words are dead without action. Chances are given to those people who they think can change.
Our Identity Has A Name (Youngster Magazine)
At times we just take our names for granted. As long as we have something to write on paper and our teacher could identify who the writer is, that is enough for us. But our name does not just exist in scribbles. It is more than that. It is an identity. We often forget that, by doing something shameful and sinful, we are also destroying the name and reputation of our family. We should be more careful on how we carry our name. It is an identity, and this identity has a face—your own.
God’s Perfect Timing [God’s Radical Daughter]
Are you waiting for God to answer your prayers right now? Maybe you’re waiting for something you want to happen, but you’re not really waiting for God. Does it seem like your dreams and hopes are never going to be fulfilled or are you waiting for your “Mr. Right?” Everybody says that there’s always a time for everything. Yes! There is always a time for everything, a perfect and right time. If something is not meant to happen now, surely, there’s a reason for it. Maybe today is not the right time. Maybe tomorrow, next week, next month, next year, or maybe it is not really meant to happen. Usually, most of us always keep on asking, “When it will happen?”, “When I will be happy again?”, “When is my business going to take off?” .Do I need to do this now or not? O God! When is the right time? That was just few of so many questions that we throw on God. We blame God for not letting something that we want to happen. But is it right to put the blame on God? Isn’t it that we are the ones responsible for this? Well, let’s see. You asked God, “God, will you make this day wonderful for me?” Did you get a reply from Him? No. But if I asked God, “God, on your honour, I will let this day to be a wonderful one so that I can offer it to you, with all my heart and with all my soul.” Surely, He will answer you, “Yes! You are really a child of mine. Just leave it to me and I take charge of it.”If you’re day turned out just so fine, then it’s really God’s will to make it happen. If it’s not, still, God has a reason for not letting it happen. You asked God, “When will you bring me a mate?” “When will I die?” “When will I surpass my dreams?”Why is there a lot of WHENs?? Just relax and know that God is in control, and at a perfect time, at the right place, and with the right person, God will make it happen. Just remember, there is an APPOINTED TIME for everything. Let me state you a situation common among you, teenagers. Nowadays, the young people or the youth now involves in the issues of love, ROMANTIC LOVE. And I do not exempt myself from that. In my everyday life, many youngsters like me are dealing with this “patience-related issues.” One says, “Oh, why is she so many suitors and I don’t have any?” A child also asks her parents, “Mom, Dad. Can I have a boyfriend now?” Sounds familiar, right? That was common among youngsters like us. Not just on girls but also on boys. Boys are also eager to feel such like this. Have you encountered a boy, at his young age, do have a girlfiend? Imagine, at this young age, a little boy can have a mate? That’s the nature of youngsters today. They are very eager, fervent and passionate ‘bout their emotions and feelings. It was just a matter of timing. Don’t ever mourn or grumble whenever you don’t get what you want. If the person you love the most left and you don’t want them to be away, just let them go, because life is like a book; so many pages, so many chapters. And in every chapter are the characters that play a vital role in our lives. Such in reality, we met people in the beginning of our stories. We grow with them and cherish every moments. In the middle of the story, we encounter dramas, conflicts, and even the antagonists of our lives. And in the end, there comes people who leave and got away our lives and come in new characters for another special roles in our lives. Remember that God put people in our lives for a reason and removes them for a much better reason. You’re still young. You can do many things rather than being impatient ‘bout that. You just have to believe in God’s power. God’s time is perfect; never early nor late. You just have to keep your faith. Sometimes it’s hard to understand why God doesn’t let thing happen straightaway. The most important lesson that all of us should continue to learn is that God works things out of His own PERFECT TIMING. I believe that trusting in God is the key to success and happiness in life. Whatever the issue you are facing, whether on business, studies, relationship among peers or even love, first thing you do is to bring it up to God in your prayers. Remember what Psalm 37:4 tells us…
“Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.”
Wow! What an amazing promise. Don’t get Him wrong. He wouldn’t give you the best clothes, toys, cars or even a pool of cash because God isn’t concerned with those material things. He wants you to “delight in Him” and spend time with Him in prayer, not on things you are impatient to happen. If you had time to read the Bible, you can look at Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. It will tell you the real value of time, God’s time and never forget that God’s time is perfect and there is a time for everything…

Basaan Festival
Mass of the Holy Spirit
The annual celebration of Basaan Festival or the Feast day of St. John the Baptist was celebrated last June 24, 2012 in St. John the Baptist Parish. This event was started by a mass led by Bishop Francisco San Diego and followed by the most awaited part in this event, the “Basaan Parade”. BASAAN - means “wetting or getting someone wet”. It’s celebrated throughout the places with St. John as its Patron Saint. For many years, it was a common occurrence in San Juan for people to splash water on other meerymakers. The experience is supposed to remind one of one’s baptism. St. John baptized Jesus in the river Jordan. The festival commemorates this event of forgiveness. The parade started at the National Road of J. P. St. in front of the church straight ahead to Bantayan Road and ended also in front of the church. Parish Youth Commission (PYC) members led the parade, together with the participation of Liceo de Calamba students and some of the residents. As the parade goes they perform their dance routine entitled “Tuloy Lang ang Saya” and “Piliin mo ang Pilipinas” while 3 fire trucks and residents are splashing water, it was continuous until the end of the route. It was an enjoying event and every Calambeño is looking forward for the next year’s celebration.
June 20, 2012 – In the coordination with the beginning of academic year 2012-2013, Liceo de Calamba celebrated the Mass for the Holy Spirit. Fresh from vacation, Liceans attended the mass for the Holy Spirit as the school year starts. The mass preside, Rev. Fr. Marlu Marasigan, put stress on youth’s spiritual perspectiave nowadays. He pointed out that Liceans are known to be spiritually-molded by faith, and that made the perception that Liceans are truly a model of faith most especially to the youth outside the catholic schools. He told us to continue being a model of faith for the young So, we as Liceans, are we truly living as a spiritually-molded youth of our society? Reflect and better see for ourselves.

A Tribute to the Holy Ones Maebelle T. Alcasid (II- St. Francis Xavier)
Liceo de Calamba commemorates Priest’s Day held on August 3, 2012. Liceans attended the Holy Eucharist presided by Rev. Fr. Marlu Marasigan. How did the Catholic Church come up with Priest Day? Jean Baptiste Marie Vianney also known as St. John Vianney, was a French parish priest who is venerated as the patron saint of all the priests. He is often referred to as the “Cure d’Ars”. On 4 August 1859, Vianney died at age 73. Before he was buried, Vianney was fitted with a wax mask. Biographers recorded miracles performed throughout his life, obtaining money for his charities and food for his orphans; he had supernatural knowledge of the past and future, and could heal the sick, especially children. In his homily, Fr. Marlu Marasigan mentioned how the life of St. John
Marie Vianney touches their lives as priests and how St. John Marie Vianney influenced Christian youth for vocational service to the Lord. After the homily, teachers offered their gifts of love and offerings. Selected students from each grade level showcased their talents in singing and acting. After the program, Dr. Adora B. Logo, our school principal, shared her inspiring message for our priests. She said that we should thank all the priests because they are the ones who can help us in times of need especially with our problems. Every section in the elementary and high school departments gave token and gifts to Fr. Marlu and Fr. Rene as an honor and gratitude to them. The Liceo De Calamba faculty and staff thanked the two priests and hoped that it should be celebrated every year.
VocJam: It's More Fun with God “It’s more fun with GOD: Firm with the Faith, Geared for the call”. This was the theme for this year’s Diocesan Vocational Jamboree 2012 happened last September 29, 2012 at Mary Help of Christian School in Canlubang, Calamba City. As a celebration for the closing of the Vocational Month of September, the Diocesan Vocational Commission conducted the Vocational Jamboree 2012 supervised by the Diocesan Vocational Director, Rev. Fr. Mauricio Llarena. Rev. Fr. Mauricio Llarena give his message about this year’s Vocational Jamboree theme, “It’s More Fun with God: Firm with the Faith, Geared For the Call.” He described the different natures of youth today, most especially, the Catholic youth of our country. According to him, the teens nowadays are engaged with different

modern social media and technologies. So, it was so hard for youth nowadays to sacrifice and give up their pleasures and delight in life, including the Facebook, Twitter, and other social sites. So, this jamboree was conducted to encourage the youth for vocational service to the Lord. He was a funny man but dead serious to lead the youth to vocation. Aside from these, there were lots of fun and enjoyable activities done. First activity is the so-called “Stick Your Faith”. This game needs an effort in participating because the letters that they need to find are hidden under the chairs within the gymnasium of the host school, Mary Help of Christian School. Everyone lifted their chairs and looked for the missing letters to be formed. Three delegates of our school found letters and won a prize. But we enjoyed the game, “Bring Me.” All the delegates of our school joined the game that’s why
all of us received prizes, books from the Claretians Publications and St. Paul Publications. After everyone has finished eating their lunch, all of us assembled inside the gym for the continuation. In the next activity, everyone was grouped according to their designated group numbers. The activity is like an amazing race but it is all about the Christian faith. In every station, there is a game that should be accomplished. There were also different religious congregations in every station that will advertise their apostolates. After that, everyone preapred themselves for the Holy Mass led by Msgr. Melchor Barcenas. The event ended by acknowledging all who made that event successful. And everyone go home enjoyed and happy with souvenirs and prizes.

Players Hit the Ground! Angel Parjan & Vivien Suelto (II-St. Francis Xavier)
One of the traditional games played by the Liceans in the Intramurals 2012 was Patintero. On the third day of the Intramurals, each team selects four players to bring bacon to their team. The game was divided for the boys division and girls division. The first game is for the boys division – Gr 7 vs. 2nd Year. In the first game, the Sophomores won. It was followed by the Juniors versus Seniors. For an unexpected moment, the Juniors did not send their players and the judges made a decision and the seniors was announced as the winner for the second game. After the boys division, the girls division started to play their
game. The first game was also the grade 7 and second year. Grade 7 made the Sophomores girls hard to win the game, but with their teamwork, Sophomores won the first game for girls division. The Juniors and Seniors in girls division followed for the 2nd game; and the Seniors won. At the last part, both Sophomores against Seniors in boys and girls division competed for the titles. They have a great encounter, as they face each other. However, they ran as fast as they can and has a brave heart. For the girls division, the sophomores won the tiltle; and the boys from seniors bagged the championship trophy for boys division.

Explosive Victory of the Seniors Fritz A. Perez (IV- St. Therese of the Child Jesus)
One of the popular events in Intramurals was the basketball. It was held on the 1st and 2nd day of the Intramurals. The policy of the game was knock out competition, whoever lost is eliminated. The first game is between the Juniors and Sophomores, where the Juniors won and made them advanced to the finals. The next match is between the Seniors and Grade 7. The seniors won with the score of 123-27 points. Then, the next game is to determine the 2nd and 3rd placers. The final match is between the Seniors and Juniors. Every quarter was considered as breath-taking and very crucial moment. After all sweats, exhaustions and sprains, the Seniors lifted their smiles holding the streak of being undefeated. The Mythical Five was chosen according to their good performance and they are Gerald Pecayo from St. Clare of Assisi, Dominic Baldon fromSt. Bernard, Angelito Oña from IVSt. John Baptist de la Salle, Julius Anthony Romeo Gabriel from IVSt. Teresa of Avila and Vittorio Vin Stefano Barros from IV- St. Therese of the Child Jesus. But as hard working carabao, John Vince Magpantay from IV- St. Therese of the Child Jesus declared as the MVP of Intramurals 2012.
CHECKMATE
John Michael Gerez (IV- St. Therese of the Child Jesus) Four representatives from each year level battled both boys and girls division for the title of being the next king and queen of the chess. With tension rising in the air, Wood pushers clashed and give their all to clinch the title but after a very long mind duel only two make it above the rest. 2nd year representative won the boys division and 3rd year representative won the girls division. It is not an easy fight for the both of them as their opponents give their all to steal the crown in them but with their skill and heart they left their opponents crying by saying “Checkmate!”. But who knows? As the game of chess is concern and with the heart and talent showed by this players maybe one of them became the next grand master or maybe this World next chess king!
Word Search Jed Rommel Buena (IV-St. Therese of the Child Jesus)
Hidden words are everywhere. As the word gets are on a clash searching for words, tension has been rising throughout the quest room. Four representative of every year level fought out for the title. But only two made it till’ the last. For male division, last year’s champion Jericson Lopez, a second year student made it again this year. For male division, another sophomore student Roselle Burgos proudly grabbed the title. But as the winners are in their cloud nine, next year’s hopefuls will have been surely mixing strategies in order to steal the crown and be the next Word Manager, in the world of word factory.

SUNGKA
John Michael Gerez (IV- St. Therese of the Child Jesus) Sungka also known as Bantumi or Mancala is an ancient family board game that was first recorded played at Ethiopia during 7th A.D. ended up the Intramurals with a big blow! Sungka is a game played on a solid wooden block with two rows of seven circular holes at both ends called heads. Its main objective is to capture beans or any material you are using more than the beans captured by your opponent. Unlike what others think that winning this game comes only by luck, Sungka like any other board game needs good tactics and planning ahead is essential in gaining victory. This game of tactics and techniques intensify the library of Liceo De Calamba as four representatives from each year level fought out for the crown. But after a very long war
of skills and techniques only two keeps composure to win the crown and they are the last year’s champion and 4th year representative; John Rehnz Mamalayan who won the boys division and Christine Perino also a 4th year representative won the girls division. Just like any other competition the day ended that winners went home happier than the others and this is what Intramurals teaches us. It teaches us that if you want to win you should work hard for it because gold medal aren’t really made from gold, They’re made of sweat, determination and hard work because at the end of the day the one who wanted it the most is the one who came home as winners!
Mary Louisse Llanza (III-St. Catherine of Alexandria) 2nd day of Intramurals – 2 in the afternoon, the battle of words for points was held at the school library. Scrabble; one of the mindblowing board games. The players experienced some misunderstandings due to sudden changes in the game system. Apparently, there are eight games, but for everyone’s convenience all of the participants played in one game and the winner of the game was declared champion. Girls Division: 1st placer: Maryll Llanza(Juniors); 2nd placer: Angelica Punzalan(Seniors); 3rd placer: Maebelle Alcasid(Sophomores) and 4th placer: Rose Manalo(Gr.7) Boys Division: 1st placer: Neil Ofren(Seniors); 2nd placer: Louise Deauna(Juniors); 3rd placer: Michael Devisfruto(Sophomores) and 4th placer: Ramjoe Morales(Gr.7) It was a quick but pressuring game for all. Everyone was brainstormed in forming words to earn points and win. Will history repeat itself next year or someone will change it?
