For the final assignment of the Coursera image-making course, I make this book about the beauty of the natural hair of the black woman heritage.
I decided to start with a bold abstract statement, using only a phrase over a black background, making a typographic image to burn the idea of the book.
In the center pages, use a digital paint I made and a reference Illustration downloaded from the internet. I defined the idea about the beauty and uniqueness of natural hair.
For the final pages, I pull a rabbit and changed them to a white background. Using a small reference photo and text (downloaded from the internet). Taking advantage of the negative space made a dynamic composition nailing the idea of: must be you, not the society who choose your hairstyle.
For the cover, I used an old Illustration I made of a sexy and confident black girl with glasses and the phrases Natural hair - beautiful hair to define the idea of the book.
