Articles from EricWelke.com Onsite SEO Tips by Eric Welke
We’re going to delve into some basic aspects of onsite SEO. It’s something that has become unavoidable due to very tough competition for keywords online. If you want your page to rank then you need to become consistent in your optimization efforts. SEO has two main components – onsite and offsite. These are also called “on page” and “off page”. Onsite SEO consists of factors that you have direct control of while offsite SEO are tasks that usually involve other pages. In the early days of search engines, onsite factors could influence results significantly. This allowed webmasters to “game” the search results to their advantage. Eventually this influence was weakened with the introduction of algorithms that favoured offsite factors such as total back links, site age and authority of back linking sites. Keep in mind that even if you perfect your site’s onsite SEO and have a well tuned offsite strategy in place, it won’t matter much if the quality of your content is sub-par. You might get a lot of first time visitors but if there’s no value to be gained from spending precious time on your site then these visitors won’t stay long or come back. Once you’ve research the keywords you want to rank on, you should write your article or post guided by these practices: The URL address of the post should contain your keywords The Title should contain the keywords- preferably at the start of the title.
Ideally, the title should be made up of at least 3 words and consists of up to 66 characters. Description Meta Tag contains the keywords and consists of up to 150 characters The H1 tag should contain the keywords. Your article should contain around 500 or more words. 1 to 1.5% keyword density – this is the number of times a keyword or phrase is mentioned over the total number of words. Avoid going beyond 1.5% as there are penalties for keyword stuffing. The keywords should appear in the first 50-100 words There should be at least one image with the keyword in the ALT attribute Keyword should be displayed in bold font once in the article. Anchor text of at least one external link should have the keyword in it. Anchor text of at least one internal link should have the keyword in it. English: seo company
Value and benefits gained from visiting your site should be the first thing you need to consider. Unless it’s just for personal use and you really don’t expect or care if strangers get to see it. In most cases, business oriented blogs or sites that are focused on content marketing must have SEO efforts in place since they rely on getting a good amount of traffic to their site. Onsite SEO is the bed rock of your optimization efforts. If it hasn’t been set up properly then it will hobble your efforts to get your site to rank. The more you get used to following these guidelines the more you will become consistent at doing it.
