The question should actually be, “What is the best way for me to make money online?” Now that’s something we can work with. The online businesses that are generally considered the most lucrative include: network marketing, affiliate marketing, and online selling. You’ll notice one thing in common between these methods: they involve selling and moving products. Whether its product you produced, reselling or marketing for another company, selling online is the easiest to learn but the hardest to master. Prospecting – You need to know how to collect leads. This may sound simple enough but it is actually consumes the biggest amount of work. Fortunately, web traffic that can be converted to leads is relatively more cost-effective to find online.


Communication – When you communicate with a prospect you need to have a good grasp on the following : Active Listening – being able listen and understand your customers is important. Once you’re skilled enough, you can even anticipate what your customers want without them saying it to you. This is crucial when you do your sales mostly over the phone. Probing- this is the ability to ask the right questions and find out what your customers really want. Creating Rapport-being able to empathize with your client helps you seal deals and resolve complaints. Your customers are human and should be treated as you would want to be treated too. Social Networking- in the original meaning of the phrase and not the current one that’s been co-opted by Facebook, Twitter and their kind. You must know how to connect with the right people and how to nurture these relationships for your mutual benefit. Presentation and Advertising- originally this was important for salesmen who travel a lot and presented their products to clients or potential customers. Now, this discipline has expanded and it has become critical for designing effective sales material, product packaging and especially website design. Closing – a very basic skill but extremely difficult to master. It’s a part of the sales communication process but is a skill that anyone dealing with customers should have. Inventory management with emphasis on Just in Time selling – online selling is fast paced and you need to be able to deliver on time without having to invest a lot on product stock. Not applicable if you’re selling virtual products, however being able to monitor sales and make projections is still quite useful.


The best way to make money online is the one that you are passionate about and have the skills to make it work. Just remember to consistently apply effort and the applicable skills in whatever you choose to do.
