Articles from EricWelke.com What’s The Perfect Source Of Targeted Traffic Anyway? by Eric Welke

When I think about my years in this industry – the success, the failures, the victories, the defeats – it all comes back to one thing at its very core: Traffic. Traffic is the lifeblood of home and online business owners. Its everything. Sure you can have a great offer, amazing technology and a high converting sales funnel, but what does it really matter without traffic? At the end of the day, traffic is what makes your business a huge success or an absolute failure. But its not enough just to have traffic. Your traffic needs to be ALL of these: Targeted to your niche High quality (people willing to spend money on your offer) Consistently reliable High traffic volume Fast to get access to Short learning curve If you have quality and reliable traffic but its not targeted to your niche, you won’t make a dime. If you have targeted and reliable traffic but its not high quality, you won’t make a dime. If you have targeted and high quality traffic but its on reliable, you’ll make some money but it will be one-time only. And you cannot build a sustainable business like that. The point is, that if you do not hit all of these criteria for your traffic, you will not have a profitable longterm business. So if you must have a traffic source that that fill these criteria, where do you get it?

Well lets take a look at all of the major traffic sources out there:

Organic SEO Traffic from Search Engines like Google

This used to be one of my favorite sources of traffic. If you can get your site ranked for the right keywords then it can be a gold mine, at least for a while. The problem, and it is a MAJOR one, is that Google updates their algorithm that they use to rank websites on a weekly, if not daily basis. And every couple of months they roll out a big update (like Panda and Penguin) that totally changes the game. You can identify these when your traffic plummets, along with your website rankings. It takes weeks and months to figure out the update and how to change your SEO and backlinking strategy. And by the time you do, Google dumps another update, and your website along with it. On top of this, its takes a solid 2 to 4 months to see any results out of it. So what happens is you spend all this money trying to rank but you have no idea if it will work until months later. I have lost 10s of thousands of dollars on this. Too expensive, too much work and too many headaches for most people, if you ask me. PROs: Targeted to your niche, High quality, Enough traffic volume to make money (when your site is ranking) CONs: Not consistently reliable, Not fast enough, High learning curve

Pay Per Click (PPC) Advertising

Some people absolutely love PPC. They live it, they breath it. Maybe I just never got it. But I have never had a profitable Pay Per Click campaign without some kind of distinct advantage over the other people bidding on my keywords. Have I run profitable PPC campaigns? Absolutely but the ONLY way that I know of to get a PPC campaign profitable is by having access to highly specialized tools. These tools have to give you some kind of information that your competitors do not have. These tools are typically expensive and have a steep learning curve. On top of this, you also need to have the following: $100s or $1000s of dollars to burn through testing different ad copy, images, tools, demographics, etc. Ad copywriting skills, especially headlines An eye for picking images that will grab peoples attention Patience to optimize ad campaigns, and the ability to get them profitable doing so PPC takes some very specific skillsets, knowledge and tools. If you do not have them, you will lose your shirt. PROs: Targeted to your niche, High quality, Fast CONs: Not consistently reliable (unless you really know what you are doing), High learning curve Neutral: High traffic volume if you can find the right ad networks

Social Media sites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn

Social is definitely the way things are heading and has been the latest craze in this industry. Its something most people understand and most people are already plugged into. And the people that can master this traffic form will be known. But for some people, that is that problem – there is not privacy. Personally, I really enjoy getting to know people, social networking, blogging and everything else online that is social. It has definitely helped my business but it does take time to master. The major issues with social media are this: If you are not continually active, the traffic dies off If you do not interact in a way people like, you will actually hurt your business Its not always targeted On that last point, people are on social media primarily because they are bored and want entertainment. From a business perspective, this is not what you want. Compare this to SEO and PPC: With these you are actively targeting people searching for your offer. Social media is much most passive. In the marketing world, we call it “branding”. In the non-profit world its called “increasing awareness”. The key to social media is that you are passively marketing yourself and building your brand so your contacts can hopefully, maybe, at some point buy from you in the future. To succeed in social media you need to do it consistently, in mass and in the right way. Its a longterm traffic strategy. PROs: Targeted to your niche (when done right), High traffic volume, Lower learning curve CONs: Not consistently reliable (unless you do it VERY consistently), Slow to do in mass Neutral: OK quality (since people are not usually in buying mode)

Content Marketing, Blogging & Video Marketing on sites like YouTube

At first glance you may wonder why I am including blogging and video marketing together. But they are really very similar and can be grouped together in a category called content marketing. Video marketing is basically making a blog post into a video. Blogging is nothing more than making a video into a text blog post. The core idea is the same: You are creating some kind of useful content/information that your target niche is interested in. I love content marketing. There are definitely some social media aspects to it since your your audience can get to know you and leave comments on posts and videos. The major issues is that it is so time and labor intensive. Creating content, blog posts and videos takes creativity, time and writing and/or video production skills. You also have to be courageous enough to put your works and even yourself, into your content – whether it be a blog post or a video. But creating the content is not enough. You also have to market and promote your content. This involves all the issues we talked about earlier with SEO and social media. The key having big success with content marketing is the promotion. You have to do the SEO and/or social media promotions to really succeed with it. PROs: Targeted to your niche, High traffic volume, High quality CONs: Very slow Neutral: Learning curve and reliability depend on how you promote your content and what kind of content (blogging, video, etc) you create

Solo Ads This has been a growing traffic source for many people. If you don’t know what it is, you are essentially renting an email list. You pay a provider that has a large email list to send a solo ad email message out on your behalf. They are solo on a per click (or per visitor basis). Yes they are easy. But they are not very reliable unless you really know what you

are doing. Solo ads have gotten so popular that new “providers are popping up all over the place. The problem is that you have no idea what the quality of the email list is.

What traffic sources were used to build the listI can tell you from experience that the quality of the email list is everything. The quality of the list depends on lots of things, but these are the major ones: How old the leads on the email list are How often the provider advertises to their list If the email list was built from bad traffic sources (like classified sites, safe lists, lead exchanges, etc) then you can expect very bad results because the lead quality is just about zero. If the leads on the email list are old and not constantly being added to then you are getting stale leads yourself. If the solo ad provider advertises to their email list constantly then those leads will get burned out fast. In order to find a good solo ad provider you need to test out several of them and really watch your results. Its similar to what you have to do when optimizing a PPC campaign but not as technology and metric intensive. Solo ads are all about finding a provider that knows how to generate solid email leads and is continually adding to their email list to keep it fresh. Unfortunately you can burn through lots of money before finding the needle in the haystack. PROs: Targeted to your niche, High traffic volume, Fast CONs: Difficult to find consistent reliable providers Neutral: Medium learning curve since you must know who to test the provider and track results

So What Is The Perfect Traffic Source?

Well I am going to be honest with you, there isn’t one. But that does not mean we can’t get close. The problem with every traffic source is that you are relying on advertising to generate the traffic. And in any form of advertising there is always risk. But if there was no risk then you would not make any money because thats why a business is compensated – for taking risks in providing solutions. But the good news is that we can minimize the advertising risk…

So How Do You Minimize Your Advertising Risk? By doing 2 things: Rely on multiple diversified traffic sources Invest in advertising on a results only basis

First you must have access to multiple traffic sources You need a mix of SEO, PPC, social media, content marketing and/or solo ads. Its only by blending these traffic sources together that you are able to meet all of the traffic criteria we laid out: Targeted to your niche

High quality (people willing to spend money on your offer) Consistently reliable High traffic volume Fast to get access to Short learning curve But there’s a major problem here: it takes months and years to build and optimize a traffic strategy likes this, not to mention tens of thousands of dollars and an extremely high learning curve. More on this in a minute…

Secondly you need to figure out how to invest in advertising on a results only basis, if possible In an ideal world, you would only pay on a per visitor or per click basis, like you do with PPC or solo ads. Unfortunately SEO, social media and content marketing do not work like this. The other thing you would need to do is ensure you are paying for quality results.

So How Do You Get Access To Multiple Diversified Traffic Sources On A Pay For Results Basis? Well, you can’t. At least not until now. And I have to be honest with you, the whole point of this blog post was to teach you about everything we have done for you at EmpireTrafficAgency.com As you know, I have been in the home business arena for a decade now. I have done and tried just about everything. I have spent tens of thousands of dollars and years trying to figure out this one single issue: How to get consistent and targeted high quality traffic to my business. And quite frankly, I have gotten really good at it. Empire Traffic Agency is built to solve this same problem for you. We have built traffic packages that: 1. Give you instant access to multiple diversified and targeted traffic sources so that all of the criteria we listed are met 2. Let you invest in it on a results only per click basis, just like you would with solo ads

In fact this is the traffic you buy at EmpireTrafficAgency.com is the very same traffic I use to build my own personal business. Is it perfect? Well no, there is no such thing. As we mentioned earlier there is always risk in any form of advertising. Does it minimize your risk? Absolutely. We do everything we can to provide you with only the best traffic.
