With the population of the earth exponentionaly growing, natural resources and food is being harder to produce. One way me and my partner approached this was to create a economical algae fish farm that would cut steps off the process. In South Korea, the main meat is fish and this fish farm would fit perfectly in there society. In the design we wanted to make is quick and easy to construct using a modular precast concrete system. The program included areas for the public to come and understand how algae and fish farming work and how these processes work together.

After disasters in countries without many resources, their economy and way of life can be shattered. By designing a new way for steel connections to make a cube shelter that can be equipped for several purposes. The concept of this competition was to make these packages easy to understand and requiring the use of hands only. In this partner project, the decision became to make these shelters not only available to disaster reliefs, but also for current los income economy housing.

rekindling economies: existing existing
Urban areas and small towns will have the capabilites to renew their economies with quick dispersment of the efficient cubes. People will continue operations quickly after a disaster and have more efficient and less expensive housing to use in economic crisis’ enabling both disasters to quickly resolve themselves.

Restrictive Radii
Arch 571
The challenge presented is to look at how to create a piece of furniture. Through orthogonally cut wood blocks and slats, I created a curved chair through distinctive radii. Through much experimentation and analysis, gluing the blocks and slats together with a dowel for tensile support created the best connection. This design creates an elegant flow for a single piece of furniture. This design originated from the initial idea of kerg design and incorporating steel and wood together.

In Chicago, there is still several prime plots of land available long the riverfront. North Front City Point Tower called for a sixty story hotel and condominium skyscraper. The concept of our tower we to build the wall along the riverfront and still provide views to great areas in the city including Michigan Ave. The bottom floors include retail and a courtyarfd to the west of our building. The triangular form was derived from several trial forms and through analysis this was the best possible solution.

Sophomore studio consisted of creating architectural drawings of precedence to some low scale design of space. This consisted of the Robie House in Chicago, drawings/sketches of interesting places to us, and others to create collages and drawings to represent our ideas through several variations. This is where I learned to use my collage and drawings skills and push them further for future studios.

Independent Studies
Weaving is a great way to interlock two materials together to produce great strength. Wood and metal have very interesting qualities once weaved together and also has provided me with a reversal in a structural concept. One of my studios provided me with the knowledge to formulate my own ideas about furniture and through my structural education I wanted to develop my own designs of furniture.

Independent Studies (Continued)
Developing my studio concepts and design further, I wanted to create a suspension system that would require no glue or rigid connection in the chair. This ould create a hammock feel but also would provide the chair with mobility to raise and lower. This can create a wall pattern and easy to store. When pulled down, the owner can sit. Some problems have arised with the mechanical system I have developed but through continuous experiments I have been progressing further to resolve the issues and create a structurally elegant chair.

Home Projects
One of the best things of learning design is being able ot apply the knowledge to real life projects. Having a construction background I understand the way various materials are constructed. My family has had the need for me to design and construct a shed, kitchen, and bathroom.Throughout my education I have been able to provide them with designs o to help them make real life choices on projects with cost estimates.
