How's the 2013-2014 year so far? I hope you guys still remember me. If not, here is my brief introduction. Hey ninjas, I'm Grace Lin, your Immediate Past Outstanding Lieutenant Governor. From my four years in Key Club, I saw many friendships, groups, and even the inner workings of Key Club but I never learned as much as when you guys graciously gave me the chance to prove myself and push my limits as your Lieutenant Governor. I met amazing people within the district and division and these people have majorly impacted my life. Key club can do so much for a person, like help a person find their inner passion for volunteering. Most importantly, Key Club introduces you to people that one would normally never meet. This club changed me to a more driven and passionate person. I started to learn the true meaning of Key Club, the meaning of a Key Club family, and the satisfaction one receives from aiding someone is truly remarkable. This club has benefitted me so much and I hope that Key Club can do the same for many others. Although my end as a Key Clubber is coming to an end, I want to wish Division 8 the best of luck for any upcoming events, meetings and any other situation that may come your way. Moreover, good luck to Lieutenant Governor Eric Young. You can definitely bring Division 8 to greater heights than its already know for in the division. Thank you, Division 8, for giving me this opportunity and I hope I made you guys proud.

Greetings Ninjas! I hope you’ve all had a great year! For all the seniors out there, high school may have ended, but a new journey is just beginning. You’ll be missed; your work and effort will never be forgotten! As for the freshmen, sophomore, and juniors, I’ll be looking forward to working with you all for another year! Although the school year is starting to wane to an end, new doors are opening during the summer! With all the summer jobs, internships, prepping for SATs, and friends, it’s surprising and heart-warming that there are so many key clubbers who are willing to take time out of their busy schedule to volunteer As a side note, for a little excitement, the Division 8a Lieutenant governor and I are planning an interdivision picnic for all of you to mingle! It’ll be a great way to meet everyone in the division and even the division outside of our own! If it all works out, this event will create and strength the bonds that we cherish so strongly! Yours in Service and friendship, Lieutenant governor Division 8 Eric Young
Division 8 Executive Assistant Hi Everyone! My name is Henry Wang and I am your Divisional Executive Assistant for the 13’-14’term. I am currently a sophomore at Francis Lewis High School. I’ve been a part of Key Club since freshman year, and I am still pretty new. Ever since I joined Key Club during freshman year, my passion for it grew more and more each day. From day one when I stepped into high school, I knew that I wanted to get involved with the community and help out others. I didn’t know where to begin, that was until I joined Key Club. After joining Key Club I realized the difference that can be made in the world, by supporting causes. I was able to have fun while helping out the community. I’ve met many new people and became closer to friends through this organization. I love spending my weekends and after school hours with key club. To me Key Club is more than a club it’s a second family. A family where we can all learn, grow and care for each other. Being part of the Key Club Divisional Board will give me the opportunity to do what I love, which is helping others. I am proud to be part of something that makes a difference in others live. I believe with everyone’s hard work we will have one successful year. I am really looking forward to working with all the club board members and getting to know everyone. Caring is Our Way of Life
Division 8 Secretary Hey Ninjas! My name is Utkarsh Sonkiya and I'll be at your service this year as the divisional secretary. I remember hearing about Key Club before I got into high school from my brother and his friends. They made it seem perfect. They always had a story to tell and something to do on a Saturday night and I envied them. And so when I got into high school, I signed up to see what it was all about. I can honestly say that signing that piece of paper was one of the best decisions I've made in high school. My brother and his friends didn't need to make Key Club "seem" perfect because, well, it was and still is simply perfect. Key Club has a way of including everyone involved by transcending above any division. It's something that I genuinely adore and absolutely love about the K-Family--there is no "them" and "their" it's always "us" and "our". Between us are some of the most charismatic, outgoing, intelligent and talented people that somehow manage to remain grounded and it inspires a change within you. It makes you want to be a better person and make more of yourself. It empowers you and cements the belief that you could in fact make a change, have an impact. I'm grateful to be a part of the family and the opportunity to work with the people that have inspired me most.
Division 8 Webmaster Over the last 9 months, Key Club has become very important for me. I understand the responsibility that I will have as I aim to become the webmaster for Division 8, and I think that I am well fit for this job as I have some experience and because I am motivated to see Key Club move ahead and am eager to help. The Webmaster, straight-up might not seem like the most important job but, it is important that the webmaster is sincere about the job, which I consider myself to be, as he/she plays a major role in keeping all the members well informed and connected. As the Webmaster, I will start off by creating a new site, which will provide all the necessary information for any event, and connect all the members of Division 8 Key Club.
Upcoming Events The Divisional Training Conference June 15th, 2013 at Bayside High School The Divisional Training Conference is a mandatory event for all officers; attendance is expected and if you can’t make it, please notify me ahead of time. The DTC is just as much an asset as a resource! It’ll teach all those who hold a position and those who want to hold position vital information that WILL be of use; however, this is not “Key Club School,” There will also be tons of workshops that could be used in life, such as “Writing a College Essay,” “Public Speaking,” and even “Improv Acting!” It’ll be an essential event for even the members: it’ll allow you all to meet your division and even our sister Division, 8a! The dress code will be Business Casual, so that means no T- shirts, no jeans, and NO SNEAKERS! I hope to see you all there.
Spotlight: The Amazing Race by Henry Wang One word to describe the amazing race 2013 is AMAZING. Being that this was my first amazing race, I had a great time. As a participant I was able to walk around Manhattan with my group members, and discover new places. There were many obstacles that we faced, and as we were progressing through the race, the challenges got harder and harder. The challenges required us to work as a team, which helped unite our group, and enhanced our bond between one another. A part of our challenge was to use our hand to create the word RACE. Since my group only had 3 members, I had to use one hand to make the letter E while the other hand takes the photo. Another challenge that we had to do was take picture of specific item such as: something that costs $1.25, a ship, and a mini carousel. These objects were place around Chelsea Piers.
Another challenge that we had faced with was the binocular one. In this challenge one member from each group had to go down by the dock, and use the binoculars to calculate the number of billboards on the other side of the Hudson River. By the way the answer to this challenge was 4 billboards, Luckily I got it right. My group and I finished the race not first nor last. We were proud of the amount of effort we put in. It was also raining which made the race even more exciting. The most important part was that we had fun. My overall experience at the amazing race was awesome. Those who organized this event did a very good job planning things out. I would highly encourage people to go. There will be another amazing race sometime in the summer, so those who didn’t attend this one can attend the one in June. I am really looking forward the next amazing race. After finishing the race let me know, HOW YOU FEEL?
Leadership Training Conference The Leadership Training Conference by far is one of the most anticipated events of the Key Club and although almost a year away, the anticipation is obviously substantiated. What is there not to love about three full days with some of the most amazing people in New York? The answer: nothing. You can't even hate being confined to the hotel because well the hotel is absolutely beautiful and exclusive to Key Clubbers. Private party? Yes please. Dances hosted by a DJ? A crazy weekend full of memories and experiences that'll last you through the end of another drudging year of school work? Yes sir. LTC is especially unique when you consider how inspirational it truly is. An inspirational party--unique. You hear some beautiful stories, meet some of the most motivated teenagers. You are forced to want to do more and be more. You go back home with an unprecedented motivation that propels you for the remainder of the year.
International Conference The only thing that can top the Leadership Training Conference is Key Club's INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE! Being only a month away, ICON entices Key Clubbers from all around the world to attend A FOUR day meeting, seven with the tour! Although I say meeting, I don’t mean chairs and tables, I mean a gathering! You'll be in a diverse environment filled with gregarious people and Key Club Spirit! There is no doubt that when leaving this absolutely incredible event, you'll be a changed person; ICON is a life changing event. At the conference, you'll be: Voting for the change and the next Key Club leaders! Signing up for awards and contests! Sight seeing! Socializing and DANCING!
I'LL BE EXCITED TO SEE YOU THERE!

Great job with the paper work guys! Only missing two ERFs!
The Eliminate Project With The Eliminate Project, Kiwanis International and UNICEF have joined forces to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus. This deadly disease steals the lives of nearly 60,000 innocent babies and a significant number of women each year. The effects of the disease are excruciating — tiny newborns suffer repeated, painful convulsions and extreme sensitivity to light and touch. Key Club makes up a very significant branch of Kiwanis, and With the help of all the Key Clubbers out there, eliminating maternal and neonatal tetanus is not a dream, but a reachable goal! It will take the co-operation of all, but I KNOW we can do it, because with the heart and effort, anything is possible! Let's make a difference guys!
