Presbyterians approve marriage equality

from More Light Presbterians Presbyterians on March 17 approved marriages for same-sex couples in the first-ever nationwide, grassroots vote on marriage equality by a faith tradition. The Presbyterian Church, USA now holds that marriage is between “two persons” rather than “a man and a woman.” Last summer, the PC(USA) governing body voted by a 71% vote to change the description of marriage, from between “a man and a woman” to “two persons.” However, the amendment required 51% of the 171 regional bodies called presbyteries to affirm the change. That threshold was crossed as 86 presbyteries voted yes. The tipping point vote was cast by Palisades Presbytery. The voting will continue through June until

Over 200 bears, cubs, and admirers will be attending Drenched Fur 11 the weekend of April 9-12. We invite you to join us for some rad times! On Friday night, April 10, join us at The Zone Dance Club, 133 W 18th St, for a TRON: GLOW party. As part of the 80s themed weekend, come show off your favorite glow items and apparel for hours of fun dancing to the retro music starting at 11 PM with cover charge at the door. Guests are welcome to support this year’s charity, Erie’s own Community Health Net by making a $1 donation and putting their name on display around the bar. And of course, the reason for the weekend is the exclusive ‘after hours’ event at the Splash Lagoon Indoor Water Park Resort on Saturday April 11. The private event is from 10 PM until 2 AM, and the ad-

mission is just $40 per person. If local guys wish to participate in the Splash Lagoon private event, simply come to the lobby of the Splash Lagoon water park between 10pm and 11:30pm. Payment for admission can be cash or Mastercard/Visa credit/debit cards. The Splash Lagoon event is sponsored by Drenched Fur 11 and is part of Erie’s Bear Run Weekend. Visitors from across the nation will be enjoying the weekend’s activities listed at the Drenched Fur website, including various daytime tours, a charity auction, vendor market, and more! Commemorative DF11 embroidered beach towels are also available to order in advance for $25. There is a 21 and over age limit because of the presence of alcohol for events at the Clarion Hotel and Bel-Aire Conference Center.
