On June 11, Akyra Murray, 18, was visiting Florida to celebrate, having just graduated third in her class at Philadelphia’s West Catholic High School. She was a star basketball player, and had earned a full scholarship at Mercyhurst University in Erie. That night, Akyra went out to Pulse with her her cousin Tiara and friend Patience. All three girls were shot. Tiara and Patience survived the attack, Akyra did not. Akyra was remembered at the vigil that Mercyhurst held for the victims on Thursday, June 16.
