Regional GSA set to begin this school year from Greater Erie Alliance for Equality
Thanks to two generous grants from Erie Insurance and Erie Community Foundation, Greater Erie Alliance for Equality (GEAE) is set to start a new program for LGBTQ youth. Students from area high schools and colleges are invited to participate in the Regional GSA Project hosted by GEAE and area professionals. What is a GSA? A GSA is a student-run organization that helps LGBTQ youth and allies navigate their rights, give them support, and network with organizations and leaders who will help them. It’s also a great way to meet new friends and take valuable knowledge and skills back to your schools. How will the organization operate? Most of our meetings will take place at GEAE’s location on West 10th Street. For students who are unable to get regular transportation, we will have free bus passes to help them. This summer and fall we are looking for student leaders and presenters. Check out GEAE’s website for additional information and to contact us if you are interested in participating. 30 AT ERIE COUNTY HIV TASK FORCE HIV AWARENESS WALK On July 31, Erie County HIV Task Force hosted its first HIV Awareness Walk. The event was attended by about 30 people and stepped off from the parking lot of the Erie Bayfront Convention Center, 2 Sassafras Pier, Erie PA, to the Bicentennial Tower at the foot of Dobbins Landing and back.
