Seeking funding help for my newspaper’s growing arts festival, I turned to the City of Seattle’s Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs grant program, wrote a proposal, and won a nice-sized grant to help me promote and put on the Third Annual South Seattle Festival of Words & Photos. The arts funding helped produce the Third Annual South Seattle Festival of Words & Photos centerfold pullout, which featured the festival’s poetry, prose and photography winners. It was published March 12, 2008, the week of the festival, which was at the Rainier Valley Cultural Center in South Seattle on Sunday, March 15 and was attended by a large crowd.
