First and second place: Running in four parts from late October through mid-November 2005, Work Wanted investigated the oft-ignored culture of migrant workers in the United States as it's rooted in Seattle. After conceiving the series, I led the three person investigative team and managed the project from start to finish. The series garnered a broad spectrum of positive community response and earned two awards: FIRST PLACE for Social Issues Reporting given in 2006 by the Society of Professional Journalists and SECOND PLACE for Editorial Journalism, Non-Daily Newspaper, Series given in 2006 by the Washington Press Association. — "They build our homes, landscape our yards and harvest the produce we find in our grocery store aisles.
