Death’s Door Distillery produces spirits using Wisconsin-grown grains, including organic wheat from Door County’s Washington Island and organic malted barley from Chilton. The Middleton community traces its beginnings to an 1832 settlement at what is now Mendota County Park & Campground (see page 9). In 1856, the area was being referred to as “Middleton.” The community officially became a city in 1963. In 2013, Middleton celebrates 50 years of cityhood.
