Some History…

In 2001, 2002 and 2003 Didier Loiseau and Geneviève Vermylen (Apollo Swing) and 2 other organizers shared their passion for swing dancing by organizing the first editions of Crazy Swing. Back then it was significantly smaller. They invited top international teachers like ‘Frankie Manning’. During these first editions, almost 95% of the dancers came from abroad. After having contributed a significant share to the growth of the Belgian lindy hop scene, Apollo Swing is very proud to be back with a 6th edition of Crazy Swing with an attendance of mainly Belgian dancers! Crazy Swing Camp is organised by Apollo Swing Danceschool info@apolloswing.be, www.apolloswing.be

Classes & Tasters

Each group has a colour which is the same as the wristband you received upon registration. Discovery : Orange Ella: Red Count 1: Black Count A: Grey Duke: Light blue Django: Navy blue Musicality Track: Green Tasters The Tasters are themed classes. This is where you can try somthing different. A taster can be a dance class or a lecture, you can find the different topics on the Taster schedule,

Audition

Count & Duke levels only. We believe that everybody tries his best to register for the right level. This is why we have a special audition system that takes place during the first class of the camp. The evaluation happens after this class. This is why you need to wear the audition number during the first class (Saturday at 9Â :00) Firstly, an actual class is the best way the teachers can evaluate you. This allows you to also feel how dancing goes with 8

your peers. Should you feel that the level of the class is too high or too low, address the teachers about this after the class. Secondly, the teachers can decide during class whether you belong in the level you registered for, or not. At the end of this first class they will advise you to change groups. So, if you or the teacher thinks you have to change level, stay in the classroom after the first class. Evaluation happens after the first class. Only in the two mentioned cases you should talk to the teachers about changing levels. Ideally, you and the teachers share the same opinion. But don’t forget: the teachers make the final decision, they are the experts  A final note: don’t forget each class & group will give you interesting stuff to work on, and will let you have a lot of dancing fun! It could be that some level changes are impossible because of the amount of couples (Lead/Follow ratio) in the other groups. If you missed the audition system you can still be put in another group. For Ella group: there are no auditions but in case the teacher thinks your level is too high, he has the right to move you up to the Count group. For Django the audition already happened through the video audition ahead of the camp.
