Spring(?)

As thebirds birds chirp, As the chirp, And squirrels scurry, And squirrels scurry, The sunThe shi sun shines. The fragrant flowers bloom, Filling the air with allergies And beauty. I wonder when it will snow. When shall giggles cease? Joy be crushed with powdery sorrow? The flakes flagrantly fall, Flowers die, birds fly, Far away from the wintery Hell scape, And the onslaughts of cold, cruel, invisible ice.

Glorious green abscond, withering away In wanton winter? When will it snow? That bird looks sad.

Bear Hunt Why would I want to chase And look for a bear With Mom and Dad and Grandma? Isn’t this silly, dangerous? But the book says it’s fun And they go into the cave.

Why such peril and danger? I have my own version of fun, It’s not being chased, Playing with Grandma, Not in caves, And far away from bears.

Don’t go into the cave! You might be chased, This is not fun! There could be bears, This could be very dangerous, I want you to live Grandma!

I don’t like bears! They are dangerous, For good reason they live in caves! They’re not friends good or fun, LISTEN TO ME GRANDMA!!! Don’t get excited by the chase!

Please don’t go in Grandma, It’s a dark, dark cave. It’s very dangerous. It’s scary to be chased, Especially by bears! It’s not fun!

How is this fun? I love my Grandma, I don’t like bears. I won’t go into caves. I will not be chased, Will not embrace the danger!

Chased by bears, Grandma in danger, What fun is there to be had in caves?

I’d Need Two Goats I’d need two goats And a vegetable patch. I would pack a lot of books too, And put on layers. Then I would walk far away To the top of a mountain And bask in silence. I would fondly forget My roommate’s new stereo And how she wants to be deaf, And the guy who lives Next door to me and has A very loud girlfriend. I could be alone with God, I would hear his still small voice, And the occasional “baa” of my goats. A village boy Could bring me anti-dandruff shampoo And news of the outside world In broken English, And I would just smile and nod At whatever he said.

Alternate

Alternate Scientists say that There are alternate universes. Every step you didn’t take, Decision you didn’t make, Turn you didn’t take Springs forth an alternate universeAnother you, A different you, A better you, A mediocre you, That lives an entire existence Apart, unique, From you. Existing side by side, Barely noticing each other. Meeting at what ifs and what onlys. If only I had caught what you said just now. What if another me did?

As I try to Rise As I try to rise, the light sneaks through the blinds. As I try to rise, I press snooze to fend off time. Cannot time disappear? Go away forever. But God is not so kind, I think as I try to rise. I look up and wonder what’s really important. I hear a car pass by, I groan as I try to rise. I hear shuffling feet and noise outside my door. My alarm rings again, I want to die, I think as I try to rise. Light sneaks through the window, Intruding through the blinds, I prefer the moon I think, as I try to rise. Shuffling, noise, music begins to play. 8:00 a.m., God isn’t kind, I say as I try to rise. Cars pass by, I hear voices. I’d rather lay here and die, I tell myself as I try to rise.

Greek Maiden Picks Flowers in a Field Will she be dragged down to Hades, Will she be chased by a mad lover, Will she become a tree, Will she become a constellation, Will she be distracted by shiny fruit, Will she give birth to strange, powerful spawn, Will she be immortalizedOr accidently murdered. Maybe she’ll be swept off her feet by the wind, But then she’ll lose it all. Maybe she’ll be bitten by a snake, But at least she won’t become a cow. Those three cruel crones with thread, What do they have against you? You didn’t open that box. But someone must be punished, When you came out of your mother You were already lost.
