Introduction
This senior final project blends my love of hands-on artistry with the passion I have for the Anthropologie aesthetic and brand. In this project, I researched visual merchandising trends and color stories, incorporating them into an original window display that would be appropriate for the upcoming Spring/Summer 2015 season.

Visual Merchandising Trend Forecast
The Retail Greenhouse WGSN forecasted greenhouse structures and plant props to reinforce the natural trend for Spring/ Summer 2015. Cacti are used to create natural key features, while hanging or freestanding terrariums merge the natural and retail world.

S/S 2015
Initial Concept Designs
The initial concept for the window was to utilize the succulent trend for S/S 2015 by displaying the succulents in wooden frames with a succulent garden placed inside. The succulents would be constructed from paper, since the display would stay in a window for up to 2 months, and watering the plants would not be possible. The background would be sponge printed with tangerine paint to incorporate the accent color for the season. It would be diagonally painted to draw the eye across the canvas.

Succulent Construction
7
The succulents are the core concept for the window display. They were constructed from individually cut leaves of patterned paper and glued together around a tack. This enabled them to be attached to the backs of the frames for display.
8
Frame Construction
9
The frames were made from 8’ long, 1”x4” pieces of wood. They were hand-cut into 2’ long, 1’ long, and 1 1/2’ long pieces. The pieces were assembled into frames, and screwed together with L-brackets on the back sides. To achieve the distressed look desired, coffee grounds were rubbed onto the frames, and then a propane torch was used to give the singed texture. After that, foam core backs were glued to the backs of the frames, and faux moss was attached to the fronts. The paper succulents were then stuck into the foam core.

Window Construction The backdrop to the window was constructed from 4 yards of 80 wide canvas. It was sponge printed with acrylic paint in 3 different colors. The canvas was then hung on the wall and the succulent frames were hung onto the canvas. Following, the mannequin was dressed and arranged in position for the display. Photos were taken to be able to import them into the Photoshop window mock-up.

Final Display
This final window display is the compilation of a multitude of different processes, from the physical acts of creating the visual pieces, to assembling it, to the technical Photoshop skills required to display it in this final image. The entire process of building this window was so rewarding, and such a learning experience, and really emphasized the passion I have for visual merchandising and physical craft. Over the six weeks it took to pull all of this together (most of which was crafting those paper succulents!) I feel that I discovered in-depth the extent of planning and time allocation that goes in to creating a final visual display. The process, overall, was an experience I truly enjoyed, and believe will help me immeasurably in my career and future to come.
