THROUGHOUT THE MODUEL WE WERE ASKED TO KEEP A REFLECTIVE JOURNAL TO INCLUDE SKILLS SUCH AS: CV WRITING, OUR ONLINE PROFILES, COVER LETTERS AND ALSO OUR INTERVIEW TECHNIQUES. WHEN TALKING TO OUR INDUSTRY MENTOR FOR THE PROJECT SHE COMMENTED ON HOW IT WAS A GOOD SOLID CV HOWEVER, I COULD INCLUDE A WEBSITE LINK TO A PORTFOLIO WEBSITE. THIS WOULD MEAN ID HAVE TO BUY A DOMANE NAME AND INVOLVE WEBSITE DESIGN.


FIRST COVER LETTER I WANTED TO ENSURE THAT MY CV AND COVER LETTER WERE LINKED TOGETHER AND YOU COULD CLEARLY SEE HOW THE TWO WERE TOGETHER. INCLUDING KEY CONTACT DETAILS AT THE TOP, HOWEVER THESE LINKS WEREN’T ACTIVE MEANING THAT THEY COULDN’T BE EASILY ACCESSED BY THE EMPLOYER. I ADDED A SIGNATURE AT THE BOOTOM AS I BELIEVED IT BROUGHT A HUMAN TOUCH TO A DIGITAL COVER LETTER AND ALLOWED MY PERSONALITY TO SHOW THROUGH.

I GOT LITTLE RESPONSES BACK WHICH BEGAN TO INFURIATE ME AND REALISED HOW IMPORTANT IT IS FOR COMPANIES TO RESPOND TO MESSAGES EVEN IF IT IS REJECTION. AFTER WHAT SEENED LIKE GOING AROUND IN A VIOUS CYCLE OF APPLYING AND NOT HEARING BACK I WAS CONTACTED BY MY COURSE LEADER,TRACY HALL WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO WORK ALONG SIDE THE STUDIO 204 TEAM TO LAUNCH THE NEW COURSE INTO INDUSTRY.

I WAS APPREHENSIVE FIRST AT ACCEPTING THE STUDIO 204 OFFER AS I FELT LIKE EVERYONE ELSE HAD SOMETHING THAT I WAS MISSING OUT ON MY CV OR ON MY CREATIVE PORTFOLIO, HOWEVER ONCE I WAS GIVEN THE BRIEF OF WHAT MY PLACEMENT ENSUED, I WAS FULLY ON BOARD. IT SEEMED LIKE THE PERFECT PLACE FOR ME AT THAT, MOMENT IN TIME AND THE PLACEMENT WOULD ALLOW ME TO STRENGTHEN AND SHOWCASE MY CREATIVE SKILLS TO MY PEERS AND INDUSTRY.

THEN USING THE BRANDING BOOK AS MY GUIDE, I BEGAN USING MY SKILLS ON ILLUSTRATOR TO DESIGN THE TYPOGRAPHY FOR THE MAIN PAGES. E.G MODUEL PAGE BREAKERS. AFTER DISCUSSING AND SHOWING TRACY THE ROUGH OUTLINE, WE DECIDED THAT SHE ENJOYED THE BLACK AND WHITE THEME WITH A BURST OF EITHER THE BRANDED ORANGE OR PINK. SHE ALSO COMMENTED THAT THE PROSPECTUS SHOULD BE PROGRESSIVE THROUGH ITS IMAGERY AND SHOULD SHOW A NARRATIVE OF COLLATED WORK GATHERED FROM ALL YEARS.

MY PLACEMENT HAS OFFERED MY A VITAL INSIGHT IN TO THE INDUSTRY AND HAS ALLOWED ME TO GROW CREATIVELY WITH A SUPPORTED TEAM. I BELIEVE THIS IS A VITAL STEP FOR ME ON MY CAREER JOURNEY AS BEFORE STARTING THIS MODULE I FELT LIKE I DIDN’T HAVE THE CONFIDENCE TO STEP INTO IN INDUSTRY IN A COMPLETELY NEW ENVIRONMENT. THIS OPPORTUNITY AT STUIDO 204 HAS ALLOWED ME TO POLISH MY SKILLS BUT ALSO LEARN NEW ONES IN PROGRAMS SUCH AS ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR. THIS IS ALL MADE EASIER BY MY SKILLS GAINED DURING MY TIME CARRYING OUT MY PLACEMENT REMOTELY. THE SKILLS I LEARNED HERE MAKE IT MORE EFFICIENT FOR ME DURING SUCH THINGS AS ONLINE INTERVIEWS WHEN IT IS NOT PHYSICALLY POSSIBLE FOR ME TO BE THERE.



WHAT I’VE LEARNT ABOUT MYSELF AND THE INDUSTRY ...



MY TIME AT STUDIO 204 HAS ALLOWED ME TO DEVELOP AND BUILD UPON PRE-EXISTING SKILLS BUT ALSO ALLOWED ME TO GAIN BETTER COMMUNICATION SKILLS SOMETHING WHICH I FELT I LACKED BEFORE STARTING THIS MODULE. THE TIME SPENT WITH THE TEAM LEAD ME TO GAIN CONFIDENCE WHEN PRESENTING MY IDEAS AND TO CONFIDENTLY BACK THEM UP WITH REASONING. I ENJOYED HOW WE COULD BOUNCE IDEA OFF EACH OTHER BUT I WAS ALSO ALLOWED TO NATURALLY DEVELOP MY OUTCOME IN MY OWN CREATIVE STYLING FITTING IN WITH THE PLACEMENT BREIF. MY SKILLS ON INDESIGN AND PHOTOSHOP HAVE IMPROVED WITH ME LEARNING TIPS AND TRICKS ALONG THE WAY BUT IVE ALSO LEARNT HOW TO USE ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR, SOMETHING WHICH I HAD VERY LITTLE KNOWLEDGE ON. THIS AIDED ME IN MY TYPOGRAPHY.

THE OVERALL MODULE HAS ALLOWED ME TO REFINE AND ALSO GAIN NEW SKILL AND ALSO NEW TRICKS FOR WHEN APPLYING FOR INTERNSHIP / JOBS. ITS STRENGTHENED MY ONLINE NETWORKING SKILLS AND HAS OPENED MY EYES TO THE TYPES OF JOBS OUT THERE AND I CAN CONFIDENTLY SAY THAT I NOW FEEL THAT THERE IS A JOB OUT THERE SUITED FOR ME. THE MODULE HAS ENSURED THAT IVE KEPT ALL MY SOCIAL PAGES UP TO DATE AND HAS CHANGED HOW I PRESENT MYSELF WHEN PARTAKING IN INTERVIEWS WETHER THEY BE REMOTELY OR FACE TO FACE. I HAVE ALSO DEVELOPED BETTER ORGANISATION SKILLS AND HAVE FOUND MYSLEF SCHEDULING TIME TO WORK: THIS WAS AIDED BY THE TIMESHEET. I CAN HAPPLY SAY THAT AFTER MY PLACEMENT I FEEL READY TO GO FORWARD WITH THE REST OF MY CREATIVE CARRER AND CANNOT WAIT TO SEE WHERE I CAN AND WILL GO.
