SKYHUB HONG KONG Graduation Project A Skyscraper Project in Hong Kong Location:Lung Wo Rd. ,Central, Hong Kong
Project Description/ Graduation Project/Spring 19 Cities and Buildings are changing. The contemporary city has an exponential increase of population, which results in different forms of vertical agglomeration. High-rise office buildings is one of the responses to population growth and urbanization. At the same time, increasing mobility and the change in technology makes us to rethink the workspace in metropolitan city. The growing popularity of freelance working and mobility provided by new digital communication tools creates an increasing demand for the reinterpretation of the workspace. Mixing work with other activities is a growing demand, which improves the productivity and efficiency during workhours. How should be the workspace for the next generation designed? Is the current form of spatial hierarchy appropriate or can breaking the current hierarchy create a better work environment? Can we integrate the workspaces with community? The aim of the project was to break the standard Office Building ideology and to gain it to public by creating workplaces and public spaces in collaborated. Thus, the skyscraper serves as the vertical integrity of working spaces and public activities. The design aim is for people to have a balanced life with public and private spaces collaborated with Office spaces, gathering people from all around the World, and work as a respond to vertical agglomeration in heart of Central, Hong Kong.

IZMIR PUBLIC LIBRARY For 4th year Architectural Design Studio A Public Library Design Project Location: Izmir/KONAK
Project Description/ Core Curriculum/Fall 18 Architectural form is driven by many parameters such as urban, ecological, programmatic and socioeconomic. Architects need to develop a systematic logic of thoughts going through specific processes to justify their final decisions. The complex relationship between form, content and program needs a strategy where different layers of each idea need to be defined and blended together. The studio will focus on technological potentials in architectural design integrating technological and digital approaches to the design process. The students will experiment on form finding strategies and analyze the relationship between the defined strategy and creation of complex architectural space. The systematic development of complex spatial models will be part of the design process. It is expected the final design to be occupant-oriented and contextual in its relationship with the site. The project site will be located in Konak, Izmir. The students will be asked to develop their own architectural program under the theme ‘Learning Centre & Library in Digital Era’. It will be part of the design task to provide new solutions for slowly disappearing public libraries as learning environments of cities. The idea is to challenge the current system for collection and sharing of sources of information through redesigning their spatial conditions. Lecturers Işık ÜLKÜN NEUSSER Metin ŞAHİN Ayşe AYDOĞAN

Design Idea
In the Project, surface bending and also rotating techniques are applied.Surfaces connect to each other by bending and create different types of spaces such as,main spaces, sub spaces,public-private spaces This technique allow the spaces to be fluit towards each other for the users. Not to cut the the existing trees, they are got inside of the building.Shape of the building allowed the building to get the sun from the openings inside in several angles according to the program.By shifting the surfaces, new semi-open public areas for the visitors and different spatial qualieties like roof turn into walls, slabs, sitting areas and even shelves are created.

Architectural Program
Technology is changing the way the people access and store information. Public libraries started disappearing and losing their importance as the learning environment of our cities. The challenge is to redefine and redesign a public library to make it an attractive public space again. The library as communal area and space for social interaction. It will be part of the design task to provide new solutions for slowly disappearing public libraries as learning environments of cities. So in this purpuse several architectural programs were located in the building which provide people to learn something by reading, learning and even learning by doing with workshops, lectures and library collection.

For Architectural Competition Course & Bee Breeders Competititon A Design of Guest House,Barn & Moveable Rooms Location:Reykjavik/ICE LAND
Project Brief/ Elective Course/Spring 18 Iceland has a vast, wild landscape, with some of the most unique and incredible natural views in the world. Appropriately known as the land of fire and ice, Iceland’s volcanic fields blend seamlessly into gigantic glaciers and tumbling waterfalls. Iceland is also an ideal location to view the iconic Aurora Borealis, otherwise known as the Northern Lights. For the Iceland Northern Lights Rooms architecture competition, participants are tasked with creating the concept for a guest house from which to view this breathtaking spectacle. The guest house would need to be able to permanently accommodate its hosts, as well as providing welcoming temporary accommodation for guests. The building complex would need to feature a series of separate, detached guest bedrooms, scattered around the site. The key attraction of the each room would be its unobstructed view of the sky, allowing guest to gaze at the Northern Lights from the comfort of their own beds. My Contribution I got involved during all the design and brain storming phases of the project.I took a part of modeling the Barn and some parts of the main building. I drew the sections of Barn and Moveable Rooms and isometric drawings of Barn.We shared the drawings of plan and isometric view. I also worked on the post production the renderings. Lecturer Asst. Prof. Athanasios STASINOPOULOS Team Members Seyit Koyuncu Ebrar Eke

The main building of the scheme is embeddedin the landscape and offers at the same time a wide view to Northern Lights. The scheme has a loose organisation.A road connects the site entrance with the main building ,with a car park halfway. Two parellel covers similar to the barn roof structure could protect the cars from heavy snow. A ring road provides access to the tractorthat moves the bubble cabins.A third path connects the barn. All roads are in fact two parellel strips of perforated concrete blocks that offer a hard surface to wheels.

BARN
The barn reflects a similar approach to the main building:Two parallel gabion walls support a timber roof like a bridge covered by turf. The open sides are protected from the winds by additional earth berms retained by gabion walls. The result is a structure fully blended with the landscape that can easily be expanded in the future.
Turf Sloped surfaces of the turfs blocks the strong wind to get inside.

The moveable cabins resamples large pebbles near the lake. They are inflatable bubbles with translucent skin at their lover part and transparent atthe top(an alternative could be the same volume made as a geodesic dome.) A cubic bathroom at the core of the bubble supports the king size bed, which is located right under the transparent top.A better view to northern lights could be had only from a raft on the lake. The bubble is based on a wheeled platform that houses the necessary mechanical systems. Power and water is provided by a number of hubs fixed along the coast, similar to the pedestals on marina docs for yachts. Inflatable Transparent Surface

GUEST HOUSE & DESIGN IDEA
The main building of the scheme is embedded in the landscape and offers at the same time a wide view to northern lights.Resembling a low volcano, the conical volume is organized around a glazed atrium that is the center of indoor activities, surrounded by most of the required spaces except the barn and the cabins. Most importantly, the atrium provides full visual access to the northern lights as a sky observatory,a fact symbolized by the eye like building plan.(’’Skyeye’’)The view to northern lights is either directly through the transparent roof,or indirectly through the glazed facade that displays the reflections on Myvatn Lake and on the adjacent pool.A heart is the main focus of the atrium -reminiscent of the Viking tradition- possibly incorporated to the underfloor heating system as a burner. With the exeption of the atriumn, the building is covered with local turf that reduces the climatic strain, also making the volume hardly visible from a distance. As an important part of Islandic life, the sas a prominent presence here, divided in two parts, inside and outside the building towards the lake.

A Competition Project for Fabrication Festival at Westminster University A Pavillion Created by Hashtag Datas for FABFEST17 Location: Westminster University/London/Egland
Project Description/ Competition Project/Spring 17 Since our acceptance has been finalized and our place has been allocated, we continue to work on our digital fabrication project for FabFest’17 with the theme “Pop Up City”. The project team have focused on diverse points from conceptual infrastructure of an ideal Pop-up city pavilion to structural details of it. Design can be used as one of the most effective ways of manipulating the notion of “standardization” which have become a dominating concept of the era. We started off with criticizing this concept to shape our design ideas. The project aims to provoke people’s individuality by unique experiences that the pavilion will provide. The form of the structure is based on visualized data which comes from Twitter entries from specific part of the London central map about one specific hashtag “#London”. In other words, “box-full of ideas from individuals” will fall off from Twitter users and will provide a “participatory experience of space” to our visitors. My Contribution As a member of EcoFAB, I got involved in modeling with grasshopper while my other collegues were preparing the diagrams of the project. I worked in every model making phases of the project even in London, Westminster University. Team Members Asst. #UNFOLD The pavilion #UNFOLD is designed for the FABFEST Fabrication festival at Westmisnetr University in London. We won the Hawtorn prize and won the third award in the category of Best Architectural Design. #UNFOLD aims to re-interpret and manipulate the concepts of diversity, uncertainty and stardardisation.Since Twitter reflects the diversity of ideas, an alternative form of participation to the Pop-Up City can be unfolded. The visulisation of the twitter data gives shape to the pavilion. The map of down-town London was overlapped with a grid as a standardisation. Each node of this grid as a standardisation. Each node of this grid is examined for the density of tweets for #London, which is constantly changing.

1/1 Scale
DESIGN PROCESS While creating the pavilion, Rhino Grasshopper is used. From the divided grid map of London, #London was searched in specific diameters on London map. From the density of the number of the hastags, the model of the pavilion started to be shaped. The structure was manipulated by lifting and lowering the surface from the nodes. The more density of results of the hastags was makĹ&#x;ng the nodes to touch the ground. In the end model, the palces where is dense determine where the pavilion touches the ground and the river created like a shelter in the middle of the pavilion.

After modeling the pavilion, it was made out of 300 surfaces with different angles. To adjust those angles while fabricating and stabilizing,a new joint technique is used. With the help of Grasshopper, all the angles between the surfaces are calculated and each side of the each surfaces are offsetted. With this offsets, perpendicular triangels was created. With mathematical definitions in Grasshopper according to the angles with of the offsets were determined. The surfaces were cut with CNC Cutting machine and come together with cable ties and tapes.
