The proposed student halls are designe around the notion of introversion. The green garden located in the middle of a single loaded corridor becomes the main feature of the building, This common sace is accesable form the interior as well as the exterior. The dorms itself are designed to promode exterior interaction through the common spaces located on the ground level which have direct access to the green garden as well as the exterior landscape and water. There is an interior bridge system that is present throught the campus and it has been continued to the new proposed buildings. 3

Residential bocks - The master plan and the creation of the water canals provides opportunities for interaction between the campus and the community. Student Halls - The master plan locates the student halls along the developmental strip. Physical Education Center - A new addition to the campus. Village Center - The main student help center Oriental Boulevard - The main pedestrian and vehicle route to the campus. Water Canals - Water becomes an important element that promotes interaction and activity. Marine and Academic Center - Water becomes an element that thÂŹÂŹe marine department

can teach on a desired setting.

Art Gallery - Main art exhibition hall of the campus that provided an impressive collection of art. Art and Science Building - The Marine Biology department will expend and become a prominent branch in the campus due to the accessibility of water.

Natural Ecology - The water canals provide an opportunity to for communal learning of strategies to protect saltmarshes and the master plan allows for such conditions to be present in different locations on the campus. Recycling - Dredging required to move a lot of sediment from its original location to create the waterways. The sediment has been recycled and moved and added to the perimeter of the campus to smooth the transition between land and water as well as create new land.

The proposed student halls are designed around the notion of introversion. There is an interior bridge system that is present throut the campus and it has been continued to the new proposed buildings.

The Harlem school of the arts (HSA) is located in Harlem, New York and was founded in 1964. This school offers different art programs to student of all ages. The approach to this project was to provide interchangeable spaces to accommodate the core programs such as music, art, dance and theatre, I offered an alternative school which provides alternative education. It is an educational establishment with a curriculum and methods that are nontraditional. These schools have a special curriculum offering a more flexible program of study than a traditional school. 13

Dance / Musical Theatre HSA provides a variety of programs that can be accessible to people without an age consideration.

Music These programs are usually held during the afternoon, which creates collisions between programs.

Theatre Space is scarce in this building and program organization is necessary to provide a better experience of the arts.

Performances HSA holds weekly events that engage the students and the community to participate. Spaces that can accommodate such events need to be provides to the school.

Visual Arts A Gallery is required to showcase the variety of art that is being produced by the students and faculty,

Interlocking Cubes Pavilion Residencial Housing

year site supervisior collaborator

fall 2012 bushwick, brooklyn, ny prof. Christian Volkmann shared the site with Mary Rizaldo

The site is located in Bushwick, in Brooklyn between Bogart Street and Harrison Street. The project requires the integration between a group of students and a family. The challenge is to provide private and public spaces where these two groups can interact as well as retain their privacy. Moreover, the building located on 72 Bogart Street has a huge impact on the site and the design process. The challenge was to integrate the building tenants, who are artists with the students who will occupy the new spaces. 21

Each facade of this structure will reflect the nature if its environment, a rough heavy front for the urban civilization and a soft linear movement toward the interior of the site. Box like extrusions will frame views providing a smooth transition between the two worlds.

Solid And Void Solid A functioning structure that carries its purpose. Well designed to fulfill many tasks. A structure that is always in development and evolution. The human body satisfies all the above descriptions. the hand as well as the vertebral column will be the focus of my cube development.
