year site supervisior collaborator

spring 2013 harlem, new york, ny prof. Adam Hays Demir Purisic, Diana Zwatzich, Jose Jimenez

The Harlem school of the arts (HSA) is located in Harlem, New York and was founded in 1964. This school offers different art programs to student of all ages. The approach to this project was to provide interchangeable spaces to accommodate the core programs such as music, art, dance and theatre, I offered an alternative school which provides alternative education. It is an educational establishment with a curriculum and methods that are nontraditional. These schools have a special curriculum offering a more flexible program of study than a traditional school.

DIAGRAMATIC PROCESS The existing structure has been stript apart and the remaining elements are the floor slabs and the columns. Structural changes were made to accomodate the new theatre. The progams circulate around the new theatre structure.

INTERLOCKING CUBES PAVILION RESIDENTIAL HOUSING

year site supervisior collaborator

fall 2012 bushwick, brooklyn, ny prof. Christian Volkmann shared the site with Mary Rizaldo

The site is located in Bushwick, in Brooklyn between Bogart Street and Harrison Street. The project requires the integration between a group of students and a family. The challenge is to provide private and public spaces where these two groups can interact as well as retain their privacy. Moreover, the building located on 72 Bogart Street has a huge impact on the site and the design process. The challenge was to integrate the building tenants, who are artists with the students who will occupy the new spaces.

DEVELOPMENTAL SKETCHES A study of the site, the possible circulation, placement, acessability and programatic distribution.

PROPOSED DESIGN DRAWINGS Nature and green spaces are scarce in this neighborhood and the introduction of green spaces to gather will increase the collaboration between the existing neighborhood and the newly designed structure. The change is elevation will provide a greater dynamic experience with the site and the habitats of the spaces.

DEVELOPMENTAL DRAWINGS A floating tower will be the connector between the urban environment and the art pavilion. Each facade of this structure will reflect the nature if its environment, a rough heavy front for the urban civilization and a soft linear movement toward the interior of the site. Box like extrusions will frame views providing a smooth transition between the two worlds.

CUBE HOUSE PROJECT SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENCIAL HOUSE

PARTI

The model created with wood sticks and cubes has been investigated through sections and elevations. During this process space is understood as well as created with only these two elements.

year site supervisior college

spring 2011 upstate, ny prof. Darryl Cook new york city college of technology

The design of the cube house started by experimenting with cubes one inch by one inch and sticks three inch long by one eighth of an inch wide. The purpose of this exercise is to reinterpret soli and void into residential program Program The house should accommodate a family of four or more

DEVELOPMENTAL DRAWINGS .design process The process of designing the exterior envelope of the cube house is mostly based on methods to introduce day lighting to the interior spaces. The abstract graphic composition of forms is created to serve as an inspiration during the design process. proposed cube house Abstract plans, sections and elevations of the final cube house. the house will be separated into private, semi-private and public spaces. There will be a freedom and flexibility in assigning usages to the designed spaces.

SONG / ARTIST / INSTRUMENTAL ANALYSIS The song is broken down into pieces and represented into graphic forms. Elements such as the artist’s voice, instruments, rhythm, beat and sound are taken under consideration while the song is being analyzed. spring 2011 not applicable prof. Mars Podvorica not applicable

The project asked to chose a set of opposing words that would inspire the creation of four structures using the additive and subtractive method. The words chosen to represent cube arrangement in a field. are Solid and Void. The parti for is the human body as a source of inspiration. I represent the set of words by using I chose four parts of the human body anatomy that best represent my words and a biological reaction happening in the human cells.

SOLID AND VOID Solid A functioning structure that carries its purpose. Well designed to fulfill many tasks. A structure that is always in development and evolution. The human body satisfies all the above descriptions. the hand as well as the vertebral column will be the focus of my cube development.

SOLID AND VOID Void Superficial elements whose function do not necessarily have a significant purpose in how the human ba:ly develops. Human hair and the wisdom tooth are elements that are often removed and disposed.
