A revolutionary taper design allows tremendous loop stability at distance and a unique weight distribution loads a rod at close range for easy casting. The front taper delivers perfect turnover and presentation of flies between sizes #22 and #2, making this the best general purpose, all round fly line on the market. The long back taper is excellent for mending and for roll and single handed spey casting and the color change between the head and the running line makes it easy to find the perfect load point for each cast. The lines features RIO's new Extreme Slickness Technology for an extraordinarily slick, dirt‐repelling coating; in addition RIO's AgentX and Super Floatation Technologies ensure the line tip and running line remain floating high. As with all of RIO's premier trout lines a small, neat welded loop in the front end makes it easy to change leaders.

The RIO Grand is one half size heavier and features more weight distributed towards the front of the line to easily load fast action fly rods. AgentX Technology gives the RIO Grand maximum floatation and the XS Technology produces a wonderfully slick finish for easy distance. The line remains supple in coldwater conditions and is ultra smooth for maximum casting distance. The Super Floatation Tip™ has a welded loop for changing leaders. RIO's Indicator line has been designed for the specific application of casting indicator rigs with ease. Thick diameter tip and short front taper easily turns over the largest of indicators. Long head and back taper make it very easy to mend and control the line at great distance. Highly visible tip can be used as an indicator ‐ especially when Czech nymphing.

A long, delicate front taper ensures the softest of presentations, making the line perfect for fishing dry flies, soft hackles, emergers, small nymphs and chironomids, while an extended body gives the line stability at range and makes mending and roll casting easy. A must‐have line for the serious lake angler. Castability has always been a problem with clear intermediate sinking lines because there are no lubricants in the coating and the lines drag through the guides. RIO has solved the problem by incorporating proprietary lubricants and XS technology (new for 2009) into the running line coating that make the line slick. The running line is translucent green while the head is completely clear. With an intermediate sinking rate of 1.5 – 2.0 inches per second (3.7 cm/s), the line is perfect for fishing subsurface and shallow shore lines. A floating line with a 9.5 ft clear intermediate tip, this is an excellent line for fishing streamers in fall as well as for nymph and chironomid fishing on lakes. The clear tip sinks at 1.5 – 2 ips, perfect for just under the surface or on windy days where a floating line will lose contact with the fly. Built on a Clouser taper it’s fantastic for casting big streamers or teams of flies and for managing wind. The single‐strand Powerflex core with coldwater coating provides high line speed for maximum distance and the highest casting performance. The Density Compensated 24 ft sink tip lines from RIO are the best in the world. The short, thick body section behind the sinking tip makes these lines much easier to cast than competing lines, while the density compensated tip ensures the line tip sinks at the same speed as the body, resulting in better strike detection and more hook ups. The durable running line ensures that these fly lines will outlast anything else available. These lines are unbeatable for trout and all types of anadromous fish.
The lines are designed with a balanced length of thick floating body to eliminate the “hinge” or kick during the casting stroke. Density compensation stops the problem of sinking tips from sinking in a curve; the tip sinks at the same speed as the body to get the fly down for more strikes and better strike detection.

Casting heavy or wind‐resistant flies has always been a challenge, even for good casters. Jim Vincent and Simon Gawesworth collaborated with Bob Clouser in developing the Clouser line. Bob is the famed fly tier, guide, instructor and conservationist best known for inventing the Clouser Minnow, one of the most versatile flies for both fresh and saltwater. The Clouser line, with its unique reverse compound taper and a bullet front taper, turns over heavy flies into the wind without effort and smoothly transfers energy to prevent the characteristic “kick” with heavily weighted flies. The PowerSpey is for those casters that prefer a longer belly line. A unique taper design makes the PowerSpey an incredibly easy line to spey cast ‐ at any length ‐ and traditional anglers will love the longer head length for precise fly control and efficient casting. RIO’s new bonefish fly line features a unique taper design that allows a rod to load at close range, a medium‐length front taper for great turnover and a long back taper to smooth out the casting loop and keep the line stable on long shots. A hard, saltwater coating over a medium stiff core results in a fly line that will not wilt in most tropical conditions, while RIO's XS Technology keeps the line slick for fast, long casts.
