Time Tower
Time Tower was a phase II development of the block on which the client already had their headquarter tower (south). We divided the remaining site into 3 primary zones, one public amenity, one tower, and one retail plaza. The tower and plaza were meant to merry the entire complex and create a cohesive identifiable headquarters for the client.
Time Tower was the first built project I worked on start to finish, SD through DD followed by CD and CA guidance via a local executive architect - customary in China. I had a great deal of design freedom given the large scale of the project and smaller team. In addition to generating all diagrams and podium / tower plans for the project, my primary design focus was on the tower lobby, and public retail plaza where I was able to really flex my design muscles for the first time at KPF.

The long linear site strategy I developed aimed to seamlessly connect all of the elements from the existing tower (left) throught the F+B, new office lobby, Port-Cochè re, and all the way to the new soccer pitch (right) on three levels

Much of my design focus was on circulation. With such an expansive site and multiple points and levels of connection, it was critical to create a clear and concise network but also provide a dynamic pedestrian experience people would actually want to use

Material availability forced us to completely change the lift lobby design dueing construction. I stepped in, took ownership, and was able to create something we felt was actually far superior to the original intent while being half the cost.

Wall Street
In what was once the epitome of global finance sits the largest unocupied building in the country - and the largest public space on Wall Street. Over the years it has found itself in desperate need of inspiration having becoming a sad and forgotten space. By introducing a green oasis into the cold heart of Wall Street we aim to reinvigorate a lost and confused neighborhood and prepare it for a health and wellness oriented future.
As senior designer I was tasked with designing and coordinating the entirety of this project from DD now into CA. Given its high profile site, difficult existing conditon, historic context, and a complex MTA connection it has been an extremely difficult idea to realize. A skylight pierces the trading floors making way for the worlds largest living wall. This provides a dramatic backdrop which spreads to smaller green moments throughout the now cohesive lobby spaces. This insertion of light, air, and green into a neighborhood known for cold concrete and shadow aims to completely transform and modernize Wall Street’s reputation.

Seen here are a few of the major elements I designed, coordinated, and documentated over the course of this project.

The Green Wall is the crown jewel of the design. The architecture is all set up so as to maximize views of the wall from the public realm below, up to the private trading floors up above.
The depth and color of the plants intensify as they approach the center of the wall, drawing you through the space and your eyes up the skylight creating a dynamic experience that changes as you move through it.

The entire wall is canted at 1.5 degrees, echoing a roman technique which aims to emphasize the drama and scale of the gesture. Working closely with our living wall, structural, and mechanical engineers I have brought what once was just a wild napkin sketch into reality. Every single panel I have meticulously defined, drawn, and coordinated and is ready for fabrication.
The Grand Stair is the gateway to the public space from the MTA and provides an incredible hero shot up the Green Wall and out the skylight. The stair design was meant to embody the feeling of walking through a fine art gallery, a slow marble stair providing moments of rest to take in the views. I have carefully crafted every inch of this moment from the overall gesture down to the millimeter radius of the custom wooden handrail.
