Colour of the year – Illuminating And Ultimate Gray Pantone has announced the colour(s) of the year to be ‘Ultimate gray and Illuminating (Yellow)’. The selection of two different colours that varies from each other combines to represent positivity and strength in the space. As far as interiors are concerned, use them wisely as too much of these colours can be overwhelming. Some of the ways to implement this combination in your home are: -Use gray as a base in the form of wall paint, arm chairs or upholstered furniture such as sofa or bed and then break the dullness by adding pop of yellow as accents. For instance, a grey sofa can be made lively by adding yellow colored cushions and throws to it. This helps in achieving a perfect balance of colour without making it appear too dull or too vibrant. -Alternatively, you can incorporate the colour of the year into your space by using grey furnishings with yellow artwork and rugs.

Over the recent years, rattan furniture is also making a comeback for indoor furniture in the form of chairs and beautiful cabinets. They add warmth and make the space appear light and naturally aesthetic. Eco friendly interiors also aims at saving costs and one important thing to consider is to have good control over lighting. Window treatments such as blinds and curtains can be used to control the indoor temperature. Keep the curtains open during the day to ensure that the space is lit up by natural sunlight instead of using artificial sources. Additionally, using darker toned decors requires more lighting compared to lighter colours as the latter are known to reflect more light. So choose the colours wisely.
