Membership Update

Chris Rucker | VP of Membership Sales

Greetings!

We are excited to announce that we will soon be rolling out a newly enhanced New Member Sponsor Referral Rewards Program. We believe that a robust "thank you" to those existing Members who invite their friends and circles of influence into Membership is one of the best ways to grow The Club

We are looking to create a true culture and tradition of Membership-through-Sponsorship at Kingsmill, a by-referral-only culture. In this spirit, we ask that each of you, our Members, sponsor just one New Member in 2023. Just one each.

If you know anyone who may be interested in joining The Club, please let me know and I will reach out to them on your behalf

Please contact me at 757-253-3964 or at christopher.rucker@kingsmill.com.

Thank you in advance for your support!

Agronomy Update

Jimmy Gabel | Director of Agronomy

The property is slowly coming back to life this spring. The Bermuda turfgrass is breaking winter dormancy and will continue to green up all through April. The Agronomy staff is patiently waiting to get back to mowing grass and providing consistent playing surfaces throughout spring and summer

By early April, all three golf courses putting greens will be aerified. Aerating putting greens might create a short-term disruption in your game, but the long-term benefits greatly outweigh the inconvenience Our putting greens receive more localized traffic and compaction than all other playing surfaces. The aeration process relieves this compaction and creates channels for air and water movement A heavy topdressing with sand fills the holes and helps keep the surface firm and smooth Regular light sand topdressings throughout the growing season also attributes to a firm, smooth surface and will prevent the greens from developing a “ spongy ” feel Healthy and properly maintained turfgrass will produce high quality putting surfaces

Thank You for your continued support!

Jimmy Gabel

GOLF SHOPGOLF RULES & TIPS

John Todd Gantt | Head Golf Professional, River Course

Master the Mental Game

One of the most challenging parts of golf is putting aside our negative emotions after a poor score or a bad shot. It’s important to stay confident with your game and trust your abilities to execute the next shot. Here are three ways to improve your mental game when out on the course:

1

Have a routine to lean on

It’s important to follow a mental and physical pre-shot routine before executing every shot. This will keep you focused on what you have to do, and when the pressure is on, it helps you manage your nerves.

2. Stay in the present

Do not allow yourself to be seduced by a score or by winning until you run out of holes Give every shot the same equal level of importance and focus on each shot as it comes.

3. Focus on a target

In sports, the human body works effectively when the conscious mind is shut off. You want to swing thinking only of your target and trusting your ability.

Thank you for taking the time to read our Golf Tips for April. We look forward to seeing you out on the course!
