Guests testimonials
We had a magical three weeks staying at L'Escapadou. Having the luxury of a beau%ful, spacious house and a garden right in the middle of Cordes was bliss. Popping down to the market and the BEST cakes in the world at Moulin or heading up to the top of the city for an aperi%f before dinner on the terrace was amazing, the best of all worlds. My family felt totally at home there and having two small children and a baby the lay out of the pool and house worked brilliantly. I cannot recommend this house highly enough, and we will be hopefully returning many %mes in the future. Kathryn Rayward, London "We spent the most wonderful week at the Villa Escapadou situated in the medieval town of Cordes Sur Ciel. It was our highlight of our France, Tuscany trip. The villa exceeded our expecta%on in every way, it had everything you required and the views were so amazing. I honestly thought we went back into %me, back to the era where knights walked the stoned walk ways. We took so many photos of our kids dressed up in knight costumes, and we could just image what Cordes Sur Ciel was like back in the 13th Century. It was the perfect place to explore the surrounds, the markets, the castles, it was so memorising and so unforgeWable. Thankyou so much Claire for ledng our family rent your villa for the week, I just wished it was fo so much longer. I could see why people sell up and move to this town.” The Harris Family, Melbourne
The Cordes sur-Ciel area Being in Cordes places you in the golden triangle: Cordes-‐Gaillac-‐Albi The town of Cordes sur Ciel is a superb hilltop town and centre for ar%sts. In the old Cite at the top of the hill are a number of restaurants and shops that are ideal for tourists. At the base of the hill are supermarkets, banks, chemist, bakery and the Saturday morning food market. Cordes sur Ciel is host to a large medieval fes%val on the 14th July. Cordes was revived in the mid-‐20th century, by ar%sts and other visitors who no%ced the town's beauty. Albert Camus visited it in the 1950s and remarked that “In Cordes, everything is beau%ful, even regret”. In 1993, Cordes was renamed Cordes-‐sur-‐Ciel to reflect the town's site on a hill above the clouds that cover the valley below. To learn more about Cordes sur Ciel please visit www.cordessurciel.fr
