Dr. Eva J. Ross, Renowned Author, Writes New Book

Dr. Eva ]. Ross, outstanding Salve Re gina Coll e ge, Newport, R. I. Vol. 10, No. 1 sociologist, author, lecturer, says work on her fonhcoming book, Social Pmblems in America, is progressing steadily in the peaceful environment of Salve R egina College. Well kn own as professor and Sociology D epartment Head at Trini ty College, W ashington, D . C., Dr. Ross received her M.A. in Sociology from St. Louis University in 1934 and he r Ph.D. from Yale Un iversity in 1937 . She received an honorary degree, D.Litc, from St. Bonaventure's University in 1956. She served as p resident o f the American Catholic Sociolog ical Society in 1943, and as Book Review Edi tor of the American Catholic Sociological R eview from 1943 ro 1950. A nat ive of Belfast, Ireland, Dr. Ross is Scottish-Irish by biNh. A convert to CaQholicism from the Anglica n Church, she became an Oblate of St. Benedict in 1927.
