Ebb Tide is now the seventh and mos t recent m ember of the Rhod e Island Intercollegiate Press Association. January 15 at Bryant College, our monthly publication was unanimously accepted by R . I. I. P. A.'s executive board. The board consists of a senior and junior delegate from each newspaper; the edirors are usually the seniors while the assistants on the respective staffs act as junior representatives. Following Salve Reg ina's acceptance, o ther pertinent business was discussed by the gro up, R. I. I. P. A.'s president, Arthur Rogers of Providence College, presiding. A date for the Second Annual Convention of the Rhode Island Intercollegiate Press Association was decided upon-April 30. Providence College will be host for the convention, which is presented by the intercollegiate group tO high school g uests, as a means of encouraging journalistic end eavors o n both the high school and college levels. All seven members, Brown University, Bryant College, Providence College, The Rhode Isl and College of Education, Rhode Island State College, Salve Regina College, and the Y. M. C. A. Institute, will work together on exhibits, programs, and finances. This will be under the direction of special committees, and Arthur Rogers, appointed general chairm an. Patricia Byrne, Ediror-in-Chief of Ebb Tide and its senior delegate tO R. I. I. P. A., was appointed by Mr. Rogers tO a speakers committee, together with Patricia DiSarro of R . I. C. E., under the general chairm anship of Frank Pritchard , R . I. I. P. A. treasurer, R . I. State, and chairman of the speakers committee. Catherine Hogan, associate ed itor of Eb b Tide, attended the meeting in the capacity of junior delegate. Plans for the annual press banquet were also discussed.

Quad7.LfatÂŁ7.a[ Con(ÂŁ7.EJZCE cJ/-E[J Following weeks of preparation, the Internat ional Relations Club of Salve Regin a was hostess to three college clubs participating in a Quadrilateral Panel Discussio n on Sunday, J anuary sixteen. The invited participants were the HistOry Club of Hol y Cross College, Worcester, M assachusetts, the Internation al Relations Club of R egis College, W estOn, Massachuse tts, and the Newman Club of the University of Connecticut at Srorrs, Connecticut. Preliminary plans were drawn up by J ohn H avens, President of the History Club at Holy Cross, and Catherin e Hogan, President of I. R . C. here on the campus, und er the direction of Father Patrick Higgins, S. J. , and Sister M ary Martin a, R . S. M ., moderators of the orga nizations. I nvitations were sent out from Newport earl y in D ecember. Each club was assigned a tOpic and requested to send two speakers for the panel. Student speakers and thei r tOpics were: The Solution of the Labor versu s Capital Problems throughout the W orld as a Means to Combat World Communism- J ohn H avens and Paul Larkin, H oly Cross; Reciprocal Trade Ag reements-Joyce Moran and John Ki ely, University of Connecticut; The International Trade Organization in the Un ited Nations Charter- Elizabeth Sharos and Ruth Durnam, Regis; The European Recovery Prog ram, an Important FactOr in world Peace-Anne Logan and Mary Ann BoltOn, Salve Regirra. Catherine Hogan was Chairman of the meeting. After th e various papers had been presented, the floor was opened tO discussion and a brief period of audience participation fo llowed. This was follow ed by Bened ictio n of the Blessed Sacrament in the college chapel, and a buffet luncheon in the dining room for the I. R. C. members and their guests for the afternoon. Prev ious to the meeting, the members of the panel and the club presidents met for dinner with the members from Salve R egi na. Attending were the delegates from Holy Cross, Salve R egina and Elizabeth Sharos, Presid ent of I. R. C. at Regis. H arry S. Gaucher, Pres id ent of the Newman Club from Connecticut was unable tO attend the meeting. Students from S. R. C. who took part in the open discussion were: J ay ne Mycroft, Vice-Pres id ent of I. R.
