'The Scapular' Editor, Stephen Breen, Talks On Fatima Visions Stephen Breen , editor of the ' Scapular' Magazine and A ssociate Director of the Scapular Apostolate in New York City, wil l present the full story of Fatima on February two . His them e will be based on our Lady's statement, 'I f my requests are heard, Ru ssia will be converted and there will be a long term of peace .' In his lecture he will shaw what is the layman's part in ful filling these requests. Everything that has been written or said about the subject will be covered in his lecture in pictures and technicolor films. The pictures include those of the actual tree whereon Our Lad y stood, the children, and Lucy ·;· oday. Although M r . Breen has his own films he uses a ' Fatima Docum entary' from Hollywood. It shows th e Coronation of th e original Pilgrim Virgin statue in the Cova de Inca where the Virgin climaxed her hundred years of proph ecies and apparitions with a great public miracle . Duri ng his short career as lecturer, writer, and magazine editor, it is estimated that Mr. Breen has reached over a million persons with his now exclu sive interest, Mariology.

'F. B. L.' Club Invited To College Production An invitation from St. Joseph's Coll ege, Hartford, Conn. to attend " Front Page" the week-end of January nineteen has been received by ·the " F.B.L." Club. Front Page is an ann ual production of 'lhe Commerce Departm ent of ·rhe college for ·;·he purpose of raising funds for ;·heir ann ual ·f teld ·t rip i"o New York in :he spring . Sister Mary Euphrasia, R.S.M ., club moderator, the club officers, and other club members are making plans to attend. They will stay overnight in Hartford.

Miss El eanore Randalle, whose work in recent years has covered radio, stage, and scree n, will address 'lhe student body as a guest speaker on Jan uary twenty-two . Starting her work on the legitimate stag e at a very ear ly age, Miss Randall e was a protege of Maud Adams who mad e the play Peter Pan so famous. In her own spec ialized fleid of operatic drama tiz ation , 'lhe speaker 'loured the country on th e Civic Conc ert stage with her own group of opera star s. Al so a teacher of the techniqu es of her profession, Mi ss Randall e "taug ht in conservator ies throughout 'l he nation, including Chicago and Hollywood. In -the latter ce nter of dramatic and musical activity, the 'laiented speak er gave instructions \·o many young stars. This will not be Miss Randall e's first visit to a Catho lic college, for she has previously ·t rained and coached many classes in vario us academies and colleges of our faith. Miss Randalle ha s informed us t hat she " will be glad 'lo ·tell ·;·he students some of my experiences in an informal program foliowing the regular performance ." Th e speaker will be making the ·rrip east after having recently recovered from an illness and hospital confinement.

thirty-one . Puccini , the subject of Mr . White 's illustrated lecture, was born in Lucca in 1858 of a long line of illustrious musicians. His first grea t success, which placed him definitely at the head of the younger Italian composers was the famous opera 'La Boheme'.

His later operas, more or less successful in pa rts when they were not accepted as a whole, because of the various changes in techn iques, were Madam e Butterfly and Th e Girl of the Golden W est. This subject and that of Wagn er are two in which Mr . White is very interested.

Since he.r arrival at S. R. C., Alic e Yin Ch eng, our Chinese D.P. student has become a familiar figure on th e campus. Garbed in native oriental costumes, Al ice strolls about her new surroundings with characteristic ease that is ruffl ed only by American slang hurl ed about by her fellow students. Born in Hangchow, China, she spe nt her childhood and youth with her family until th e onrushing Chin ese communists forced them to evacuate to Formosa, where Ali ce enrolled in Ginh ing College, majoring in Sociology fo r two years . Although studies

were primary, Alic e says, " In leis ure hours we found dancing, sports, and movies as enjoyable as our Chine se culture and customs. " Th e twenty yea r old Alice is now majoring in Foods, but intends to work in the field of either Science or Bu siness. In her stroll s about Newport, Alice has ·i ound amusement in the servicemen w ho smile and say, " Ding hoa " in ·their finest Chinese. To 'lhis we ad d a warm hand of welcome and sincerest wishes ·for a year that will spel l happiness in her new hom e.
