Baccalaureate Day Features Dinner For Paren ts; Ball Highlights Year Commencem ent activities which begin with the D ay of R ecollection and Class D ay, w ill continue with the festivi ties of Baccalaureate Sunday on May 30, wi th a 10 :30 Mass in the college chapel for the gradu ates, their p arents and friend s. Parents' D i n ner Following the M ass and Baccalaureate address, tche annual Parents' dinner will be ser ved in the college dining room at 12. A t this dinner, with Miss Paula R oche as toas t mistress, the g raduates w ill toast all those who have had a great or small part in m aking their college years possible, happy and successful. The toasts to be offered will be to the President, Miss J ane Quinton ; to the Chaplain, M iss M ary T. Silvia; to the D ean, M iss M arion Taber; to the Faculty, Miss Patricia Shea; to parents, M iss Joan Cullinan ; tO the Facul ty Adv isor, Miss Virgin ia Li; to the Class, Miss Mary Lou Alyward; to Alm a Mater, Miss Mary E. Commencemen t Ba ll The State Dining R oom of Ochre Court will be the scene of the 1954 Commencem ent D inner, and the Great H all will be the setting for the Commencement Ball on Monday, May 3 1. Ceremo n ies h eld o n Terrace The Academic Processio n wi ll first go to the Terrace for the exercises with Miss Paula R oche as M arshal. Miss Susan Whalon will lead the singi ng of the Class So ng, and Mi ss M arian Estes w ill address the assembled group. Her address will be direc ted to Adminis tration, Parents, Faculty, underclassmen, ::nd classm ates. Miss Constance Lynch wi ll recount the Class H isrory; M iss H azel Sullivan, the Class Prop hecy; Miss Virginia Balf, the Class W ill; and Miss Susan Whalon, t he Class Ode. Tree Plantin g Ceremony The procession will adj ou rn to the east campus for the p lant ing of the tree. When each Senior has p laced some dirt around the tree, Miss Joan H alligan will deliver the tree oration. After the oration Miss Gertrude McGrath will present the trowel to Miss M ary Elizabeth Casey, President of the Jun ior Class. In accepting the trowel M iss Casey w ill be do ing the very thing that her m other did thirty-four years ago when she, too, was pres ide nt of the Jun ior Class at Pembroke. Miss Casey will also be using sections of her m other's speech. Following the tree planting, M other M ary Hilda, R .S.M., will turn the tassels of the Class presidents. They, in turn , will do the same for the m em bers of their cl asses. Benediction w ill follow in the chapel.

Rev. Da vid J. Coffey Conducts An n ua I Day of Recoll ectio n R everend D avid J. Coffey co ndu cted the an nual day of recollection for the m embers of the Senior class on Wednesday, May 26. Father Coffey is the Diocesan DirectOr of R adio and Television Activi ties. In th is capacity he has com pleted two years as Executive Director of the Catholic Broado sters of Ame rica. He served as Television Cri tic for initial NCCM telecasts "Frontiers of Faith". T he D irector is also National Chairman for R adio and TV W orkshop Commi ttee of the Confraternity of Christian Doctr ine. Father Coffey has prod uced 22 N at ional Broadcasts during the p ast two years of report. The spiri m d port ion of the day will open wi th M ass in t he college clupel. The remaind er of the day will be g iven over to conferences and w ill dnse w ith the traclitional trib ute of th e Sophomore sisters in the form of the Sophom ore-Senior D in ner at 6 p. m.

Woman A Sta tement of the Idea l." Born in J ersey Ci ty, New Jersey, Father D oug herty atte nded St. Aloysius Parochial School, St. Peter's Preparatory School, Seton H all Uni versity, and Immaculate Conception Sem inary, Darling ton, N ew J ersey, receivi ng his Bac he lor of Arrs degree in 1930. Continu ing theological stud ies at the Propaganda and the G rt::gorian Universities in R ome, he was orda ined there in 1933 . The fol lowing year he was award ed a Licentiate of Theology ( S.T.L. ) by the Gregori an University. After Biblical Studies at the Pont ifical Bibl ical Institute, R ome and Jerusalem, he was awarded the deg ree, Licentiate of Sacred Scripture ( S.S.L. ) . In 1948 he received his Doctorate in Sacred Scri p ture (S.S.D.). At present Father Dougherty is Professor of Scripture at Da rl ingw n and R egent of the I nstitute of Judaeo-Christian Studies at Seton H all Univers ity. A member of m any Biblical Assoc iati ons both here and abroad, Father D ougherty has also been active in nation-wide radio and television broadcasts. One of his m ost recent radio addresses entitled: "Freedom From and Freedom For"", merited the Freedom Foundation's Gold Medal Award.
