Announcing the names of four members of the class of 195 5 who have been elected tO Kappa Gamma Pi, the dean's office disclosed that the J candidates are Mrs. M ary Aubin, M iss Joan Kane, Mrs. Alicia Larsen, and Mi ss Madeline Saccocc io. Kappa Gamma Pi , a national honor society founded June 30, 1926, J stands for the three Greek words which mean Catholic Women Leaders . . Its purpose is "ro set a high standard of character, scholarship, service, and leadership duri ng the college years by emphasizing the value of scholarly endeavor and campu s leadership; in the post-college years by encouraging active participation of members in Church and secular fields. " Members, chosen o n an honor-points ratio, must have shown outstanding leadership . in extra-curricula r activities, and must have been at the college for at least 1 two years. They are chosen by the faculty from one-tenth of the graduating , class. As an emblem of the society, members wear a key, either as a pin or pendant. The key bears on the obverse the cross of Faith and the wheel of St. Catherine of Alexandria with the society's initials. On the reverse the motto is engraved in Greek. Mrs. Aubin, a grad uate nurse, has been a student at the college for j the past two yea rs where she has been active on various class committees. , Miss Kane, vice-president of the student body and prefect of the sodality, has also been the sophomore class president and has held office in several clubs. Serving as vice-president in her freshman year, Mrs. Larson held · the post of president of the French club. Miss Saccoccio, president of the student body, served as class representative last year and has been president of the Spanish club and an active member of the Future Business Leaders Club. This marks the second graduating class of Salve Regina College to be admitted tO this national honor society. Three members of the class of 1 1954, Miss Marion Estes, Miss M arion Taber, and Miss Susan Whalon, arc the other members.

The fifth commencement exercises of Salve Regina College will take place on the T errace on Monday, May 30. His Excellency, The Most Reve rend Russell]. McVinney, D.D., LL.D., will preside. After receiving his A.B. degree from Boston Coll ege, he e ntered the Jesuit order. Fathe r Donov~n now holds an M.A. degree from Fordham University, an M.Eo. from Boston College, a licentiate in Sacred Theology from \X' eston College, and a Ph.D. from Yale. Since l948 Fat her Donovan has been chairman of rhe D epartment of Education at Boston Coll ege and in 1952 became D ean of the newlyfounded School of Educat ion there. He is now the first vice-president of the Massa chu stts Council on Teac her Educa tion and vice-president of the N ew Eng land Society of College Teachers of Education . After the process ion to the terrace led by Rever~end J ohn T. Shea, A.B., Bishop McVinney will g ive the invocation , followed by g reetings by Reverend Gerald F. Dillon , LL.D., His Excellency D ennis J. Roberts, LL.D. , Governor of Rhod e Isl and, and His Honor John J. Sullivan, Mayor of N ewport. The presentarion of teaching certifica tes will be made by Michae l F. W alsh, Ed .D., Commissioner of Edu ca ti on in Rhode Island. Baccalaureate Program Includes l Mass, Parents' Dinner, Comedy Concluding the day's events, fr eshman :111d sophomore members of the dramatic club will present a one-act comedy, "Beware of Termites," by S. Rilla Carlisle. The story revolves around two sisters, Cora and Lenny Armitage, who live in a rented house which their father designed. They hope that the family will be able to purchase the house. One day, while their mother is away, a Mrs. Daly and her daughter, Patricia, come to call. Under the impression that Mrs. D aly intends to buy their house, the sisters immediately scheme to deter her fr om doing so, aided by their chum, Wanda. The cast includes : Rydia Almy as Lenny; Carol Cannon as Cora; Barbara O 'G ara as W and a; Gertrude Amaral as Mrs. Daly; Wilma Meagher as Patricia; Clara Barros as Mrs Armitage.

Baccalaureate exercises will open on Sunday, M ay 29, with a High Mass offered by Reverend Gerald j Dillon in the college chapel at 10 a.m. This bacca laureate Mass will j be sung by the members of the Freshman class. Father Dillon will deliver the baccalaureate address. Following Mass, which will be attended by parents of the graduates, a collation wi ll be served in the cafeteria. At 12:30 p.m. the annual senior-parents dinner will take place in Ochre Court. Toastmistress for the day will be Miss Madeline Saccoccio. Commencement Ball En ds 'Senior Wee k' Activities As the final event of their Senior Week activities, the Class of 1955 will hold their Commencement B1ll on M ay 30. H eaded by Mary Aubin, the committee has planned a dinner-dance from 8:30p.m. to 1 :00 a.m. The dinner will be catered and music will be provided by Lou Vaillencourt's orchestra. Comprising the rest of the committee are: Joan Kilduff, co-chairm an ; Joan Howell, business manager; M ary M ondi, programs ; Betty M aureen Davis, dinner; Brown, orchestra ; Maria Sepe, favors; and Margaret Kelly, decor:ttions.
