Announcing the names of four members of the class of 19 56 who have been elected to Kappa Gamma Pi, the dean 's office disclosed that the candidates are Miss Barbara Faris, Miss Joan Lang horn, Miss Sheila Doyle, and Miss Claire Phelan . Kappa Gamma Pi, a national honor society founded June 30, 1926, stands for three Greek words which mean Catholic Women Leaders. Its purpose is " to set a high standard of character, scholarship, service, and leadership during the college years by emphasizing the value of scholarly endeavor and campus leadership: in the postcollege years by encouraging active participation of members in Church and secular fields ." Members, chosen on an honor-point ratio , must have shown outstanding leadership in extra -curricular activities, and must have been at the college for at least two years . They are chosen by the faculty from one-tenth of the graduating class. As an emblem of the society, members wear a key , either as a pin or pendant. The key bears on the obverse the cross of Faith and the wheel of St. Catherine of Alexandria with the society's initials. On the reverse th e motto is engraved in Greek. Miss Faris, a graduate of St. Mary 's Academy , Bayview, has been a student at the college for four years and is a Chemistry major. M iss Langhorn , president of the student body , is a graduate of St. Xavier Academy. She was senior delegate to NFCCS. Majors in Ed uc atioon , Miss Doyle, a graduate of E lmhurst, and Miss Phelan , a graduate of St. Catherine Academy, Newport , have been active in their class activities for the past four years.

Father Gerald Dillon Delivers Address The sixth rofumencement exercises of Salve Regina College will take place on the Terrace on Monday, June 4. His Excellency, The Most Reverend Russell J. McVinney. D .D. , LL.D., will preside. The Reverend Gerald F. Dillon, recently appointed pastor of the new parish, Saints John and Paul in Coventry , Rhode Island , and former chaplain and professor of Philosophy and Theology at Salve Regina College, will be the Commencement speaker.
Commencement Ball Begins "Senior Week" Activities As one of the initial events of their Senior Week activities, the Class of 19 56 will hold their Commencement Ball on June 1. Headed by Miss Irene Reese and Miss Margaret West , the committee has planned a dinnerdance. Th e dinner will be catered and the music will be provided by Dee Francis and his orchestra . Mary 's Pawtucket, St. John 's Provi dence ; spiritual director and teacher of religion at St. Xavier's Academy : professor at the Cath olic Teachers' College: teacher of Latin at La Salle Academy : .1nd dean of men at Catholic University , Washington , D . C. Before coming to Salve R egina College, Father Dillon was a member of the faculty of Our Lady of Providence Seminary. During World War II he saw active duty under fire for 18 months as chaplain aboard the Carrier Wasp in the Pacific. . After the procession to the terrace led by Reverend John T .
