CAMPER & PARENT SKILL LEVEL GUIDE

ESF AQUATICS PROGRAM

HIGHLIGHTS, IN PARTNERSHIP

SCHOOL

ESF AQUATICS STAFF: Our experienced Aquatics staff is made up of certified ESF and Kids First lifeguards who are trained to teach our program, ESF counselors/coaches assist.

AQUATICS DIRECTOR: A seasoned Aquatics leader oversees ESF swimming program in pool area.

SWIM LEVELS: We have established skill levels and campers progress at their own pace.

SKILL AND SAFETY TESTING: All Campers (alumni and first year campers) are tested on first day of camp for skill assessment and/or safety in deep water depending on age and skill level.

PROGRESS REPORTS: Parents are provided with updates on camper progress (weekly or upon request depending on age level).

Level 2 - ANGELFISH

1.Fully Submerge Face - 10 seconds

2 10 Bobs w/ Rhythmic Breathing

3 Review of Head Positioning

4 Front Float w/out Support- 5 seconds

5.Back Float w/out Support - 5 seconds

6.Kick on Front Supported and w/Noodle

7.Kick on Back Supported and w/noodle

8 Assisted Pop In

Level 3 - BLUEFISH

1 Review Level 1 & 2 Requirements

2 15 Bobs w/ Rhythmic Breathing

3 Streamlining (Concentrating on Head Position)

4.Gliding Unsupported

5.Kick on Front 5 Yards

6 Kick on Back 5 Yards

7 Jump into Deep Water

8 Retrieve Objects in Chest Deep Water

9.Floating and Turning Over

10.Unassisted Pop-In

Dolphin A is the first of 2 sections required complete the Dolphin Level.

Completion of Level 7/Dolphin A and Level 8/Dolphin B are needed to complete the Dolphin Level.

1.Front Crawl with Open Turn 50 Yards

2.Back Crawl with Open Turn 50 Yards

3.Elementary Backstroke 25 Yards

4 Sidestroke 15 Yards

5 Breaststroke 25 Yards

6 Dolphin Kick 5 Yards

7.Intro to Butterfly Arms

8.Tread Water 3 Minutes

Dolphin B is the second of 2 sections required complete the Dolphin Level.

Completion of Level 7/Dolphin A and Level 8/Dolphin B are needed to complete the Dolphin Level.
