Regional Manager, Turkey & Central Asia Chief of Marketing, BFL Hydro HQ Turkey
BFL is looking to hire a Regional Manager (RM) for Turkey and Central Asia to contribute to its growth in these geographies in line with the company’s vision of becoming the leading small hydro company in the world. The RM’ key objective is providing direction to the regional marketing team in driving sales growth and building a predictable revenue pipeline aligned to production capabilities.
The RM will collaborate with BFL personnel based at the headquarters in Bangalore, India, country-level BFL partners (distributors), and BFL’s outsourced market expansion consultants (DFI) based in Washington, DC, USA, as well as a broad range of small hydro stakeholders. Core Responsibilities of RM: Accelerate market growth and support regional and country-level business plans with local partners. Set and achieve revenue and profit targets in agreement with BFL HQ; Ability to map small hydro market and short and long term business plans; Design and build appropriate brand image for the BFL product line in the region; Expand BFL’s commercial network into priority Central Asian countries by working with DFI and participating in the selection process and interviewing potential local partners (distributors); Manage and develop BFL’s local partners in the region and their growth strategies and plans, including excellent relations with customers and prospects; Manage and develop team members to achieve business results, assume personnel related responsibility for members of BFL’s Turkey and Central Asia regional office; Support BFL’s pipeline development and actions toward business closure in the region; Build out BFL’s regional office with commercial, technical, and administrative expertise as required; Together with BFL HQ and DFI, coordinate ongoing reporting and communication to support local partners and country growth strategies; Engage with relevant small hydro stakeholders, including customers, consultants, EPCs, government and regulatory agencies, to strengthen BFL’s position and accelerate deal flow in the markets; Participate in marketing and visibility activities, such as small hydro seminars / events, on behalf of BFL for branding and to generate interest in BFL’s services. Minimum of 10+ years of professional business / private sector experience, including 3 – 5 years in the hydro space, preferably small hydro and established track record in senior management positions in the private sector; Knowledge and familiarity of key small hydro stakeholders in the scope geography and access to high-level business people; Relationship oriented individual with passion for the small hydro business; Self-starter who works well independently and in teams; has attention to detail and strong organization skills; Ability to think strategically and creatively to promote BFL business development strategies and to coordinate among diverse industry stakeholders; Turkish and English bilingual; strong presentation and public speaking skills. Desirable Qualifications: Experience conducting business in Central Asia; 10-12 years experience selling capital goods; Russian language. Remuneration: Commensurate with experience and subject to negotiation. About BFL: BFL offers a “water to wire” solution to its customers in the small hydro power sector. It undertakes the design, manufacture, supply and commissioning of the electromechanical components on turnkey basis for its customers. BFL manufactures turbines with capacities in the range of 500 KW to 25 MW and supplies the valves, generators, switchgear, auxiliaries and other supporting automation and communication equipment for SHPs. BFL also provides a full range of services including design, engineering, installation, commissioning, refurbishment, modernization and service support for SHPs. BFL is active in nearly 20 countries, and BFL already has projects on the ground in Turkey. BFL is currently prioritizing Turkey and Central Asia as key markets to accelerate its business due to the strong potential for small hydro in these geographies. The RM will play a central role in achieving this. BFL is a privately owned company and is part of the Fouress Group from Bangalore, India. It was incorporated as Boving Fouress Ltd. in 1985 as a joint venture with Boving UK. Over the years, Boving UK ownership changed multiple hands and was eventually held by GE Energy from 1998 to 2008. In 2008, the Fouress Group bought out GE Energy and now wholly owns BFL. BFL manufacturing facilities are located at Hoskote, near Bangalore, India. The company has a dedicated staff of around 150 comprising largely of engineers with extensive experience in design, manufacturing, quality control, project management, plant erection, plant commissioning, contract preparation and marketing. 2
