HARVEST TIME, JUDGEMENT and RESURRECTION: A collection of end time scriptures taken from the four gospels with cross references verses and commentaries. This is not a complete study as it is a vast subject that could take books in order to get all the details. This compilation is for the purpose to give the reader a basic understanding of the words in the Gospels concerning the End.
MAT.3:11-12 John the Baptist said: "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. His And he shall go before winnowing fan is in His hand, and him in the spirit and power of Elias. Lk 1:17 He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire."(Lk. 3:16-17) "His winnowing fan is in His hand ": This is about the powerful judgements of God. The fan symbolizes power--its propellant power! The Lord's going to come and His fan shall be in His hand, it means He's going to come with great and powerful judgment. (Jer.51:2) JER.15:7 And I will fan them with a fan… I will destroy my people since they return not from their ways. ISA.41:16 Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the Lord...
Mat.13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn. Mal.4:1 For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven, when all the arrogant and all evildoers will be stubble. The day that is coming shall set them ablaze, says the Lord of hosts, so that it will leave them neither root nor branch. MAT.13:36-50 Then Jesus sent the multitude away and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him, saying, "Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field." He answered and said to them: "He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one. The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels. Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age. The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear! Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet that was cast into the sea and gathered some of every kind, which, when it was full, they drew to shore; and they sat down and gathered the good into vessels, but threw the bad away. So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come forth, separate the wicked from among the just, and cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth."
These parables focus on the final judgment. The Lord is telling us that sons of the kingdom and sons of the evil one coexist in this world and that it will continue that way until the end of this age. The kingdom did come into the world through Jesus’ first coming, but it didn’t come in its fullness yet. Both good and evil cohabit this world, but at the Judgment Day, those who are evil and the causes of evil will be cast out and then the fullness of God’s kingdom will begin. Mat.24:31 And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. MAR.13:26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven. MAT.25:31-34, 41, 46 "When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world…Then He will also say to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels…And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life." He'll send His angels out to gather us from everywhere, from all around the whole Earth, and He won't leave one behind. John in the book of Revelation envisioned Christ’s gathering of His children as a great harvest: He's not coming as a babe in the manger this time, but as the King of kings, to rule and reign forever! "And in His hand a sharp sickle… and the Earth was reaped!"
When our testimony here is finished, the Lord will harvest all the good grain that he possibly can, will gather it and take it into His garner upstairs. The Lord will tell His angels, His reapers, "Gather the wheat into My barn!" (Mt.13:30) Jesus catches His Church out and then, immediately following in Revelation, you'll find nothing but the Wrath of God being poured out upon the wicked who remain. REV.14:14-19 And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe. And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped. And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle. And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe. And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. The harvest is twofold, one for the sons of the kingdom and one for the sons of the wicked one. Jn. 12:31 Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out. Jn. 16:8, 11 When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment‌and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned. (Lk. 10:18)
If you follow the order of events, then immediately after the gathering of the saints would have to follow the judgment and the wrath of God upon the wicked left behind. The church will suffer some tribulation, but they’re not going to go through the wrath of God. "For God hath not appointed us to wrath." (1Th.5:9) Only the wicked, only those who have totally rejected Jesus and have been persecuting His Prophets, are reserved for this fate. ROM.5:8-9 …God commended his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. MAT.12:41-42 The men of Nineveh will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and indeed a greater than Jonah is here. The queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the Wisdom of Solomon; and indeed a greater than Solomon is here. (Lk. 11:31-32) MAT.11:20- 24 Then He began to rebuke the cities in which most of His mighty works had been works which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. "But I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the Day of Judgment than for you. "And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades; for if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. "But I say to you that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the Day of Judgment than for you."
ACT.17:31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained. He's talking about the Day of Judgement, most likely what the scholars call “the great White Throne Judgement”. (Rev. 20:11-15) It is true that the unsaved are judged according to their works, for the lost don’t all receive the same sentence, but in God’s justice it will be more tolerable for some in the Day of Judgment than for others, because of their lesser light and opportunity. LUK.12:47-48 And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more. It is obvious that some are going to be punished worse than others, and some are going to get very little punishment, if any! Others are going to get plenty, just what they deserve, but no more! God is going to make a difference and judge everybody justly, righteously and mercifully, according to their works! There is so much in the Word of God showing that there will be degrees of punishment just as there are degrees of reward. God is just, God is thorough and "every man will be rewarded according to his works"! (See Ps.62:12; Jer.17:10; Mt.16:27; 2Co.5:10; Rev.2:23; 20:13; 22:12.)
Following are additional commentaries and possible interpretation of the sifting of the “sheep and goats during the different periods and events of the end time: In a sense during the End time, the tribulation, the Wrath of God followed by the Battle of Armageddon are going to be like sifting periods, the dividing of the sheep from the goats, the tares from the wheat. Like He says, you have to wait till the end until they grow up, the tares and wheat, before you can reap them as you see which is which! (Mt.13:30) And the Tribulation will certainly be a dividing factor to show up who's for and who's against. And although there will be millions who will not be actual Christians, they will be against the Antichrist. A lot of people are going to be deceived by him in the first part of his reign, but when the real crisis comes, the sheep are going to be separated from the goats, there are going to be millions of people, nations and whole religions who are going to refuse to accept his Mark to the point of taking up arms to fight against him in wars that are described in the Scriptures! (See Dan11:35-46, Ezekiel 38, 39) Therefore, the Tribulation is like a sifter at the end to see who God is going to bless. He says, "Blessed are they which endure to such and such a day," etc. (Da.12:12), those whom God blesses with survival of those three great sifters: The Tribulation, followed by the Wrath of God, followed by the Battle of Armageddon. Apparently, apart from the saved, there are going to be hundreds of millions of them who are going to survive all three! Who would God bless with such
survival but those who did refuse to fall down and worship the Beast, his Image and receive his Mark? The forces of the antichrist are going to be many and powerful and great, but I don't think they're going to be, in a sense, the actual majority of the World's population! But whether you think it's a majority or a minority who are going to survive, there are going to be enough of them who survive and form whole nations of the World over whom we are going to rule in the Millennium! (Dan.7:22, 27; Ps.2:9; Rev.2:26, 27) And because they took the stand of the righteous and did that which was right even without the law, without the knowledge of the Truth, without the knowledge of God, the true God, and without having received Jesus, they will be judged without the law and they will be chastised with very few stripes Follow me, I am the God They will be given a suspended of this world. sentence, in a sense, and put on probation during the Millennium to see how they behave, and they will be given a chance to be saved. There is a final sifting and dividing of the sheep from the goats at the end of that probationary period of the Millennium in the Battle of God and Magog in which Satan comes back, deceives those whom he can and his forces surround the forces of the Kingdom of God on Earth, the forces of the Millennium. Satan is not going to be able to deceive everybody on Earth. What's the point of binding the Devil for a while and then releasing him at the end, except for another final sifting of those people who've been on probation on earth? (Rev. 20:3, 7-8)
Jn. 5:21-30 For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it. Moreover, the Father judges no-one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son… “I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live…And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man. “Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out - those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned. By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me. Jn. 11:23-26 Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” Martha answered, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” DAN.12:1-3 "At that time Michael shall stand up, The great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people; And there shall be a time of trouble, Such as never was since there was a nation, even to that time. And at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone who is found written in the book. And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting contempt. Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever. 1CO.15:51-54 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed--
in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory." 1TH.4:14-17 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. You will not always get justice in this world and there’s nothing anybody can do about it. But there is hope; this life is not the end. That sense of right and wrong that you have in your heart is not your own imagination. Our Creator put it there; it is not put there to mock you. There is to be a harvest, a judgment and a resurrection where earth’s wrongs will be put right. And Jesus, the Son of Man, has been given authority to judge by the Father.
