Learn English in London!

London, one of the world’s most visited cities

And it’s no wonder! It’s not only the red phone boxes, the Royal family or the famous underground; the British capital really does have something for everyone: from history and culture to fine food and good times. London buildings are striking milestones in a unique biography, with centuries-old landmarks mixed in with original and fresh constructions. The city’s innovational streak goes beyond its architecture: theatrical creativity, contemporary art, pioneering music, writing, poetry, and design all abound in London! And with a deeply multicultural population, diversity infuses daily life – from food, music and fashion to entire neighbourhoods!

MUST-KNOWS

Waterloo station’s hidden tunnels are home to the weird and wonderful “The Vaults”. Filled with theatre, comedy, and all kinds of immersive events, these graffiti-covered tunnels make for a great (and slightly wacky!) night out, in which the rattle of trains only adds to the underground atmosphere!

“Londoners” was written by Canadian-born Craig Taylor in an effort to describe how London is perceived by its citizens. The author conducted over 200 interviews with Londoners of all sorts – from the woman who voices announcements on the tube and a man who plants trees along Oxford Street to a sex worker and your regular office Joe.

English language students all over the world learn about the negative tag question “isn’t it?”. But then London happens and “innit?” makes way for confusion…

In the words of London-born band Blur “take a drive to Primrose Hill, (…) the view is so nice” … except you don’t actually have to drive. Primrose Hill is the highest hill in North London and its uninterrupted panoramic view of the skyline makes it an amazing spot to watch the sunset over the city!
